The first two years we lived in this apartment, management and maintenance were superb. Work orders were taken care of the same day, problems with tenants were immediately resolved, the front gate was monitored 24/7 by a living, breathing security guard. It was like living in paradise. Then, the property was sold to "investors," and paradise went down the toilet.
Maintenance slowly became non-existent. Initially, after new management took over, work orders took 3 days, then a week, then 2 weeks, then months. To this day, there are work orders that have not been taken care of for years, even after repeatedly contacting the management office.
The property manager is arrogant, obnoxious and condescending. In her eyes, you, the tenant, does not exist. When she sees you in her office, she doesn't see you; she sees through you. Just the other day, I saw her buttering up a few potential tenants. Unfortunately, the tenants took the bait. The only thing that went through my mind is, "You're in for a real treat as soon as you sign on the dotted line." This is just my personal experience.
The maintenance staff doesn't exist, literally. I have yet to see a maintenance truck, belonging to Heatherton Estates, anywhere on the premises for the past 4 months. When I do see them, they're relaxing in the office while my work order goes unfinished.
Parking is a joke because management decided it would be a wonderful idea to remove the apartment number from the parking barrier. Now, the tenants are arguing over parking space. The idiocy doesn't end here.
Heatherton Estates decided to go hi-tech by firing the security guard, that monitors the front gate, and opted to use an electronic security gate. Not only is this a nuisance (you have to deposit $50 for each security card/car, which means you have to spend more money than necessary), the gate is left wide open for the past 2 yrs. Recently, they repaired the security gate. Then guess what' Some kid, in the middle of the night, decided to vandalize the security intercom, so we're back to square one. Not too bright those managing Heatherton Estates. Can we say low intellectual bandwidth' Do they even know what bandwidth is'
For Anonymous who wrote a review on 1/2/2002, good luck, since you can't pack up your bags and leave on a whim because of your children. As for myself and two others, we're leaving. Finally, Heatherton, currently, has a very high vacancy rate. Looks like I'm not the only person who feels management are imbeciles.

I completely agree. And nothing has changed. The management is terrible and so is maintenance. Work orders are still going unheard and unacknowledged for weeks even months. I can''t wait until we get out of here. I have never lived in an apartment complex like such. They don't even have a laundry facility as advertised. It is just ridiculous and irritating. The gates were intended to make you feel safer and they still remain open 24/7. Something needs to be done or apartments will remain vacant.

I also agree. Everything that you stated in your responses is true. I also like to check the various apartment guides to see what is being advertised. I really wonder where they got the picture that they show in these magazines because I sure haven't seen anything that looks like it. They still list "gated community, sparkling pool with fountain, basketball and tennis courts". The gate has worked about 2 weeks in the last 6 months, even though the pool has not been officially opened, it looks absolutely horrible at this time and I doubt if I would want to get in it if they DO open it, the basketball court is a shambles with no rim and there has never been a net on the tennis courts. What a joke! And don't let me forget, when it snowed, it took them until after noon to get the streets "cleared" which caused us to miss a day of work. How do they expect us to pay the rent if we can't get to work? We were also told that the grounds crew would also take care of our patio area if we left our back gate open but no one EVER did anything to it. I plan on leaving here as soon as I can!
