Well I have lived there for 8yrs... and it's time to move. I have a 1 bedroom in the Daisy apartments. Let me say the nice things first. The rent has been relatively cheaper then most and the 1 bedroom has more sq ft then most. Also they have remodeled some of the daisy apartments recently, not mine and they quit so guess they will have some old blue apartments remaining like mine and the other brown (nice color) but poorly done jobs on the rest.
Now the bad... The management has turned over more times then I can count. I have heard gun shots in the apts next door. Appliances are green and the stove smokes, so I dont use it much and the fridge drips water inside. I live on the middle floor and hear the fighting above and below me for years. Not the same people but constant problems. Guess they should try not to get people with mental problems in the apartments. I have been awaken by riots in the nice green grass outside my window. People yell and fight late into the night until Grandview Police drive thru and hall them away or chase them off. Laundry facilaties are a joke. Used them a few times but not decent recommend just going to laundry mat. Cleaner and more likely to work. My car had been broken into once, but know 2 others with similar problems. Recently its hispanic run, most of my neighbors are hispanic. I do not discreminate but they have different values then I. They all tend to drink beer and play mexican music late in the evening and very loud. They also leave trash all over. Most have illegal tags or replace there temp tags every month... dont know how they do it. I do know that my license plates had been stolen 2 times and my stickers for them 4-5 times over my 8yrs. They typically share a 1 bedroom with about 4 adults and 2-4 children. They tend to take many more parking spaces then you can imagine. All of the above I can deal with to some degree. Could be worse in that resepct. I have never had my apartment broken into and feel safe. There are plenty of lights, when they are working. What I cant handle is the Roach problems. They are worse then you can possible imagine. They are living in the walls and apartment near mine so it is Impossible to remove them from my side. I have had professional strength roach spray, powder, and viscous gel that has not been successful- over $100 in chemicals. Perhaps they have become immune to the stuff. A professional exterminator said it is impossible to rid the apartments unless they were all done in the same building with professional stregth materials and not just spraying the corners of the walls as the maintenence thinks would work. I removed all food from my place as otherwise would find these nasty critters in them. Just the thougt of the one I saw last night makes me gag. Im sure not all the apartments buildings are this way, but I know my building is infested. Many have moved in and moved out with in a few months bc of the issue. Others have lived with it for years. It has only been an issue with my apartment since last year. I was foolish to think it could be fixed and have done all i can for a year with no luck. In fact its been worse and forcing me to move. The courts have actually been the ones deciding ownership of the complex fot the last couple months. So there is no maintenance or apartment managers to discuss problems with. But no one collecting the rent either so I guess its free for most. I still drop my checks in former location of their office because it had a drop box, but there most recent location was abandoned by the last mangement group. I think its a loss all the way around. It will take a long time before it could be up to the standards one would hope. They are not starting it off right. I had a letter that said the rent would be going up if I didnt have a lease with a fixed rate. I dont have a lease because the apartments never gave me one the last time I signed it. They dont have any records of any prior leases, or at least have not been able to locate them yet.
What they need to do is get good managment. Not cater only to the hispanic. Make strick rules about late payments and evict the non-paying and terrible tenants. Have a security gaurd drive thru the apartments at night. Tow cars that are not running or invalid tags. Not allow too many people to live in one apartment. Finish painting apartments. Eliminate the ROACHES, and follow up with semi-annual professional exterminators. Replace failing fridges, stoves. Have an after hours maintanence number that someone actually will answer or call you back on.

Well, it's good that there is new management, considering one did not exist according to the original post. As far as roaches, wow, that's too bad, I really get disgusted if it's infested. If you are management and reading this,I would have needed something more than anonymous and "we will bomb" that apartment".

I never said that I was management. I just don't have as much time as Nathan to write a book. I just think that new management deserves a chance to make some changes. It will never happen over night. The last management that was here spent two years running the property down. It will take a while to clean up their mess. BUT there has been changes. Hell we have trash service and an office that is open 6 days a week. They even answer the phone when you call and return your message if they missed you. I am not saying that the property is perfect; it defenatly has its problems. But it is getting better and the people in the office are helpful. Just give them a chance. If you only knew how bad it was last summer compared to how much different it is now. Hell I stayed and I plan on staying just to see the changes.
