It takes practically an act of congress to get anything fixed. The owner will not spend any money on improvements unless the city cracks down on him. Lights in hallways are always out, appliances frequently don't work, door frames are weak and easily kicked in, no locks on windows or sliding glass doors. Any time you call in a work order, you get some excuse or another about how they have alot of work orders ahead of you. When you look outside, the maintenance crew is sitting around doing nothing. The dumpster area is disgusting and filthy and hardly ever picked up. Washers and dryers in the laundry rooms hardly ever work and storage lockers in the laundry rooms are frequently broken into. The rent goes up constantly with the excuse that it is only temporary to cover the cost of heating during the winter months. This is weather you have a lease or not. The rent still goes up. Very few smoke detectors are in working order. The balconies are rotting and very unsafe as you wouldn't want to stand on them. On the rare occasion that a maintenance person actually does work on your apartment, you can bet some of your personal items will be missing.
