I dont actually stay there, but I have a friend who does. She said when she came in and had a problem they came right out and fixed it. The only thing I dont like about it is the fact of no carpet. I would perfer carpet, to avoid having to sweep everytime you decied to leave the house. . . Again like someone else said. You get what you pay for. You also have to buy your own blinds for all the windows, and There are a lot. If I count right there are 11 blind to be bought. If you combine the double windows it will be about 2 less. Also they dont do a very good job with filling in holes, so its an arm and a leg trying to hang blinds where the families before kids hung off the blinds and created huge holes. For the most part I like the neighborhood. There are a lot of kids! So if you have kids then it will be good for them. . . . Oh and unlike othere town homes I have seen. You have to pay for washing. And there are no hook ups for your own. Whats more weird is if you move into the apartments you wash for free. . . Strange!!!

Washers in apartment buildings are not free! The cost to wash, if the machines are working, is $1.25 to wash, and $1.25 to dry for 45 min, which often doesn't get your clothes dry. Also yes there are a lot of kids here and thier parents do not watch them, they run wild in the streets and almost get hit by cars daily! Yes maintaince responds fairly rapidly, but only band aids problems with cheap and shoddy repairs.

i have NEVER seen free washers here.. i lived in an apartment here for over a year and now in a townhouse for over a year... um no the apartments dont have hookups...many apartment complex's dont..not just hawthorne. as for the having to supply the blinds. alot of people that live here dont give a crap about anything, let alone someone elses property. if they provided the blinds, they would have to buy new sets everytime someone moves in and out. the holes that you are speaking of are not from kids hanging on curtains...it is from being here since i think the 60's and they just fill the holes after someone moves in. as for a place for kids to play.. haha... alot of peoples kids here are horribly bad, misbehaved, foul mouths and just down right not parented well at all. as for people bitching...most people live here or free or next to nothing. it is much better here then living on the streets or in low income in KC. it would be a better community if all the ghetto people who learn to appreciate what the hell they have and learn to respect others around them.

Part of the reason for the lack of blinds is because some of the people that live there will take them when they leave or will break them while they live there. That's why almost every window has blankets over it. The wood floors are the same story. It is cheaper to sand the floor than to buy new carpet after every renter moves out. HUD and Section 8 is not about providing people with a high quality of life, but to put a roof over someone's head. Face it, people are not suppose to live in HUD or Section 8 housing all their life.
