I have lived in Hawthorne about two years now. I got a divorce and found myself with three young children, no job or education, and very little money. I moved in because the cheap rent was about all I could afford, and I was going to school. I can't even let my children play outside. Just this past December my fiance pulled up in his car and two men came up to him with a sawed-off shotgun and demanded money. He didn't have his wallet on him so they hit him in the face with the gun and took his phone. The police said it was the fourth person they had robbed that night. Two nights ago there was a huge brawl and a 10 yr old kid got punched in the face for his bike by some huge guy! After the police left, the guys that were fighting came back with guns and someone got shot!!Thank God We Are Moving!! I guess it served its purpose because I earned my degree, and now me and my fiance have just purchased our first home. We close in two more weaks. I can't wait to get out! If I had it to do over I would probably stay with family before moving in here again!

very scary place to live indeed! drugs are rampant and management knows about it! Cops know about it! no ones does anything about it. fights on the street in fromt of children every week, gangs of men hanging out late at night getting high and drunk, illegals moving in, single moms letting men move in with them on the sly, sometimes 6 adults in a 1 bedroom apartment living and office does nothing to stop any of this even when they are told over and over and over!!! they let stay who they want and kick out who they want. Maybe there is some sort of shady illegal busingess bewtween the independence cops, management and drug dealers in hawhtorne place????

I agree! I believe Hawthorne is disgusting. There are people who are actually trying but they are VERY FEW AND FAR BETWEEN! I lived there when I was 6 to 13 and it was bad then too. This place will never change. I witnessed things NO ONE should ever have had to see! One night a huge fight broke out in our parking lot and it involved about 15-20 men on each side! The police helicopter was shining lights down on our parking lot and guys had knives and guns! This was right at the end of Dover Drive (the main road)
