Having lived @ Hawthorne for over two years I have to say I must agree with ALL the negative claims and statements. I truly wish I didn't, but I have actually seen this particular event take place in June 07, and it only made me angry at the tenants, as well as police and management for choosing to wear blinders when it comes to this apartment complex. Mgmt calls us a community, and honestly chooses to wear rose colored glasses regarding this property. Good people who have to live here due to economic hardship want to leave, and do because they are being run off by the drugs, prostitutes, and criminal element. I have seen the police parked on Dover literally watch a fight take place between two grown men in broad daylight, and refused to intervene until it was over, and it was only over because a brave female tenant mother broke it up! THEN the police car drove down dover, after it was over! Something fishy has to be going on between Mngt, Police and drug dealers/users, and criminal element. THERE JUST HAS TO BE!!!

Yeah, it's been like that well before the 1980's when I first encountered that place. If you want to start a rap sheet this is the place to go.

St. John Avenue in Northeast KCMO would probably be better!

i only agree on the police part. i have called them many times when illegal things were going on right out in the parking lot and they take forever to get here. one time they finally did get here...after about 45 mins and the people in the van were busted and had guns and stolen property. nothing was done the person who lives here tho, that was in the vehicle. stick to your self and you will have no problems, i have 3 great neighbors that are here because they have to be...not because they like to milk the system and stay in low income for years on end. one is an elderly lady, the other 2 are single moms whom do NOT let their kids run all over all hours of the day and they were taught how to respect others.
