I have lived in this complex for a few months now, and had just moved in when the first shooting occurred. From what I heard on the news, the kid that was shot had been dealing drugs...
In this day and age, nowhere is completely safe from crime, but this complex has upped their security, the police department makes frequent patrols, and all in all, I feel safe here. If you keep your doors locked, know who your neighbors are, and call the police if you see anything suspicious, you shouldn't have any problems. I haven't, and desipte another shooting just 4 doors down from my apartment (which was also drug related) I haven't noticed any further problems in the complex. The maintenance is fabulous -- we had the water heater in the laundry room adjacent to our apartment break, causing the carpeting in our MB closet to get soaked. We noticed the damp carpet, called the office, and within 1 HOUR the maintenance guy was out, shut off the water heater in the laundry room, and the next morning had the carpet guys out to clean the carpet and suck up the remaining water in the carpet.
I am VERY happy with the management, the complex, the apartment, everything. Yes, sometimes it is hard to find a parking space if you come in late in the evening, but overall, the place has REALLY gotten a LOT better than these previous posters...
