WHATEVER...Really, Lighten Up

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2007

Okay....this is going to be long but I have some objections to what others have posted on here. I have lived at Independence Ridge for almost four years and I do plan on renewing in May and for many years to come. I don't know how others have been treated, and in turn I don't know how the other residents have treated the staff. From some of the postings on here I am assuming the residents have not acted like 'adults' if they are being treated 'rude'. When I first moved in here back in 2003 I will admit I wasn't impressed! At the time the only reason I moved in was because I was new to Independence and really needed a nice place and a good deal. The first apartment I rented was a one bedroom. I really expected the apartment to be small since it was the cheapest in the area, boy was I wrong. The apartment was more space than I needed at the time. Maintenance back then was VERY slow and didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. I really didn't care for the manager at the time either. Back then I was slow with my rent and she wouldn't work with me at all. I wasn't planning on staying, but I didn't read my lease and it rolled over on me. So, I was STUCK for another year in other words. Then my boyfriend moved in and I got back on my feet and really needed more space. We were going to move completely out of the complex then there was an office change in 2005. We got a new manager and another new girl, but she's not there anymore she was alittle dingy. I went to the new manager and told her that I needed to move but wasn't allowed to move to another apartment in the past because the other manager said that we couldn't because I had problems with my rent in the past. To make a long story short we were able to move to the larger apartment, and to this day we love it. Like I said before I have no idea how others are being treated, but I only have great things to say about the office staff, especially the manager and the rest of office/maintenance staff. The maintenance is no longer slow, I make a call and within a day or two the problem is fixed. Like previously stated the maintenance team is SUPER! I have lived in many other apartments in Texas, and have been treated VERY bad. The girls in the office go out of their way to make sure that I am happy, and I KNOW, for a fact that I am not the only one!!!! I make a phone call and tell them I have a problem and they are on it, so I am confused why other people get on here and say something completely different. The 'crime rate' that everyone keeps posting on here I feel is completely over doing it. Yes, recently things have been a little odd, but I still feel very safe living here. Like I mentioned before I lived in Texas and always had problems with crime, and a lot of my frieds that live in the 'NEW' apartments down the street have problems with 'crime' too. Not only that, I don't see why everyone thinks that it is the fault of the office staff. They couldn't possibly know that those kids were involved in drugs, if they had known I seriously doubt they would have been living here. Yes, I have had problems with some people that live here and sometimes I have to put up with a few parties. But, I expect that since after all I do live in an apartment complex. I and the other residents in my building had a huge problem with one of my former neighbors and their constant parties. I called the manager and told her about the problems that I was having. She told me that she would have to give them at least one warning letter and if that didn't help she would take further action, all I had to do was let her know if it stopped or not. Well, lets just say the letter didn't help and they were my neighbors for only three months. This is exactly why I believe the staff had no idea that the other kids were troublemakers. I know this is long and may not make a difference to anyone else, but I truly love living here. No, it isn't brand new and not perfect. For what I pay it is the BEST in my opinion. In the fall and winter the grounds are not the prettiest, but in spring and summer it looks okay. I am glad that almost four years ago I decided to move in here. In the begining it was rocky, but now I have no problems and no matter what anyone else types on here, just know that there are a lot of happy residents here. If you choose to live here or anywhere else just remember that 'bad things' can happen anytime and anywhere and that these are the signs of the times to come. Marlana and Juanita I hope you read this. We love you both, don't listen to what the others say, you are NOT CONDESCENDING NOR RUDE, not in the least. In my personal opinion it is probably the other way around. qmzu4EHcaGAPVCPw2Fai
