Keep all your lease information as well as documentation that you have paid your rent and any deposits. When you move out, hold onto all your papers for a minimum of 5 years. Check your credit report diligently. Whether you are a current lessee or a previous renter, do not rely on the office to notify you of a default OR a mistake on your account no matter what the circumstance (even if you know they have your contact information). I was lied to by the office staff on more than one occasion.
