Some individuals are very eagerly monitoring these reviews like a hawk and are attempting to inhibit and cloud the truth about this place. It seems their only defense to this majority review of 34% recommended is that everyone who has a bad thing to say about this place is a "smoker, drinker, partier, or frat boy" - I'm not a smoker, drinker, partier, or so called "frat person" - I have a good education, a great job, and always pay bills ontime -- It makes me wonder if they are getting some kind of discount every month to kiss the new managers ass and say a few kind words about the building to help draw in business'
I have lived at Cold Storage for a year now -- signed my lease when the building opened. I was one of the first individuals to put down a deposit for my 1-bedroom, and I dread it to this day. You will read other reviews about this complex that stray from the truth, honestly I think the company (Garrison Props) that owns this company has hired individuals to try to make the place look good with reviews. Advertising may be "impressive", as I thought, but is complete false advertising.
The beginning property manager (with whom everyone who lives here knows) lasted the beginning stages until about 6 months after it had opened. Apparently she had been with the company for along time (at other properties) and took over this property in the construction stages. She was extremely limited as far as responses to concerns you brought to her attention. It turned out that this lady was stealing company money, and stealing rent checks. Although individuals were naive enough to sometimes not put a payee on a Money Order when paying the rent, this property manager would fill in her own name. The company caught on soon after.
The second property manager (UPDATED) lasted as MANAGER for 1 day, I knew she was with the company longer, but (according to her post below) thought I figured she was only with the company for 1 day. She was hired as a assistant mgr and was asked to take over as property manager the same day they fired the first one. She later concluded she couldn't handle the job, and left. She has responded to this post (below) and seems to be sore that I called her out on the fact she quit after 1 day. Please don't sit there and judge me, I have many many many reasons the management and building is disfunctional -- for example, I have had a motorcycle stolen from the garage LOCKED UP and both of my cars hit multiple times with no notes in the parking lot(s) and garage(s); this place falsely advertised to me and told me when I signed my lease of the "state of the art" camera systems and then once these issues happen and request tapes to be reviewed they are magically "not operational".
To continue, at this point, the "application processor" was filling in as the property manager -- in which he had no idea how to properly manage a property and provide customer service, therefor only the minor duties of a property manager were done. Zero customer service or requests were fulfilled during this 4-month or so period.
The last (and current) property manager is a absolutely outrageous person. She was hired to "chop heads", and in the mean time - passes EXTREME JUDGMENT on anyone whom she doesn't feel is appropriate to live in the building. She has a ZERO customer service attitude -- everything is rude, and condescending. I pay my rent and bills on time to them and have never once been late -- I was treated 1000% better by the apartment manager stealing money from the place. When she first started, she was standing in the doorway of the building entrance (and holding the door open while she spoke to someone) -- I was walking in carrying a arm full of stuff and as I approached she walked in front of me and closed the door right in front of me. She is very cold, very non personal, and very pretentious...
This post was intended to be large and very thorough, however this website is space limited. To get to my point, I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! If you are thinking about renting, RUN NOW. If you would like the full review of this place and instances and problems that have happened to me - email me and I will provide it! Also, questions are also welcome!

Well hello there. I was the second manager. I stayed a whole month, not one day. I was hired as assistant manager and on the day the manager was let go, I received the "honor" of being named manager to this Peyton Place for a whopping $250.00 more a month. LOL. To handle every -----, moan & groan to 200 households alone. Yes, lots of complaints were legit, others...well they seem to think management is there to wipe their nose. So the new manager is tough. Boo Hoo. That place was one of the most out of control enviroments I have ever seen. She needs to not be "personal" so she can handle the yahoos. Good luck to her. And by the way, the first manager was not stealing. You must owe rent and are trying to blame her. I gave her cash or a money order not filled out. She never gave me a receipt. What fool does that? Oh, and by the way, my name is Lana, not anonymous. P/S...Hi Matt

Thank you for your response to this prettyinpink7 - you are very right. Unfortunately there seems to be some immediate judgment passed when these individuals honestly don't know what they are talking about. Just for your information, I am not or never was a "frat", pool drinker, out of control partyer, nor do I smoke. I am a responsible tenant, have a good job, and pay my bills on time. Prettyinpink7 has roughly outlined the deal with the new manager. She was hired and has a mentality to "clean house" and I find her extreme coldness, and non-personable attitude unfair and unjustified to responsible residents like myself - it comes down to unwarranted judgment. And Lana, just for clarification - I am not this Matt person you have so named me to be, and I said you were manager for a day, not stayed for a total day. I actually liked you too, and once had a good 30 minute conversation with you aswell. This place might have started "out of control", but that certainly does not mean I should be treated with disrespect like the new manager has shown. I have never complained or expected management to "whipe my nose", so please don't place that judgment on me either. And Matt, the key to the elevator was for moving purposes, not as a permanent thing. Many many many residents were "loaned" a elevator key to move in furniature. And yes, I prefer Amber over this new manager -- everyone makes mistakes in regards to her money situation, and again no, I'm not a smoker, drinker, partier, or so called "frat person"; so again I would appreciate if you stop using that as your only line of defense to this entire group who's rated this building at a current 34% -- majority rules. By the way, are you getting some kind of discount every month to kiss the new managers ass and say a few kind words about the building to help draw in business?

I find you comments rather funny. I too am a lease holder. I'll take the new Manager over the old one any day of the week. What I find funny is, you are willing to take a mananger who steals money as you say she did..witch I don't find that to be true.
Everyone filled out there checks to "Cold Storage Lofts" and never left them blank. If they did give her a blank check how stupid is that? but what I find most interesting is, You would live in a place where a manager who had such bad management skills by allowing people to distroy the building, drink in the hallways, ciggerett butts, police was out constently just to have someone smile to your face? And if you really think that, you are a person of poor taste.
Every "GOOD" mananger that I've seen is pretty ruff around the edges. Most importently I will take somone who is honest, tuff, and strickly by the books by the rules and regulations than somone who will lie, cheat, steal, stab you in the back and then smile to your face and still do nothing. People who do that truely can't be trusted.
The new manager has been working her butt off in getting things back under control. and Rightfully so. and if you want the old manager back, then that tells me you where the smoker, the drinker up on the roof, the party frat house type that like the old manger becuase people could get away with anything they wanted.
Oh by the way? YOu wanted a key to the elivator? LOL Thats funny. what respectiable building would allow that. I'm glad she didn't do that then and surely you can understand why its still not!
The new manager is doing a good job. and most people I've spoken with have started to see the changes for the "BETTER", and if thats what you want to complain about because she don't give you all smiles and lies then thats truely your problem, and maybe you should move to some place that suites your Smile and lie type needs.
I'll take the "less of two evils" at least I know I'm safe, and stuff is getting done. The new manager has fixed more maintence, contract and warrenty issues in less than one month than the other two managers combined in 8 months!

that doesnt tell you anything. we just want to be treated with the respect we rightfully deserve. it all boils down to customer service, and this new "manager" does not have any semblance of it at all. how can you lump people into the party-er category? some of us have kids, go to school, or work early in the morning. how can you say that just because we've been disrespected, we're frat boy, destructive, --------? we pay on time, are never loud, have quiet dogs, etc. as told to us by someone who works in the building. so how, mr. matthew, are we the frat house type?
btw:
this comment (and others) are coming from someone who wrote a bad review, then quickly yanked it. i have a hard time believing what you have to say. if you really live in the building and love this place, then more power to you... but to sit here and put down other peoples opinions and reviews isn't a very honorable thing to do. i know i can go walk my dog outside and meet 5 residents who do not like it here. and i know several residents who have already broken lease and some of them because of the new manager. how do you explain that? you can't negate my personal experiences, nor the expereinces of others. if so many people are complaining about the woman in the office, it's painfully obvious you are the minority here. your pandering will just end up pissing off new tenants who listen to you and end up moving in thinking the bad reviews a fluke.

TO prettyinpink7:
Who ever said I yaked ratings on here? becuase I NEVER have. To be frank with you much of the bad posting pior to the new manger was by ME. So don't tell me I'm the minority. I was the VERY FIRST POST to say how good it was, I was the post that said how bad it was, I have been the one who has given the updates. So don't talk to me about your one meesly posting about your so called minority when I've been here sence the start.
You say respect that you rightfully deserve? Show me that in your lease contact will ya and I'll agree with you. You pay for your personal living space "AND THATS IT" No more and no less. I'm sorry you feel like your ass has to be whiped by by kindness.
Second of all did I ever say you was the frat boy party type? I was making refference by those who are. and for those that are not don't you think this is what Cold Storage is trying to protect. I mean come on you all know how bad it was here before the new manager even started? So whats you damn problem anyways?
Don't you think it was bad enough before the new manager got here. and your "ONLY" complaint is she is not professtional enough for you? "I MEAN COME ON". Surely you can see the good things that have come. Not even giving her credit for being quiet on the weekends? "witch was a complaint. Or the fact that cars are being towed from the parking lot becuase people COMPLAINED that there wasn't enough parking spaces "ANOTHER COMPLAINT" how about the ammount of empty beer cans and bottles laying around in the hallways "ANOTHER COMPLAINT" how about the Locks being glued shut, or the fights that went on, or the ciggerett butts though out the hallways, or people who don't pay rent, and people who kept parking in the garage who don't pay for that.
Give the new manager a chance for god sakes. If you all can't set a side some small differences due to her gruffness then thats your problem. You can't even see the good things going on other than the fact you don't like her. I mean witch do you want? personally I'll take this any day than the way it was before and its just that simple!
and don't think for one moment she has not gotten in my ass about somthing becuase she has. but do I "RESPECT HER ANY LESS" No I don't! You can't ask for respect if you not willing to give her the chance to do what is right.
How do I explain people who broke there lease? I have two words for that "GOOD BYE" if they where willing to stay when things bad and now wanted to move when things was getting better EVEN THOUGH they don't like the new manager..I will quickly tell you they didn't need to be here anyways. When people start getting a clue of "Ah oh" I'm being watch, cought or going to be evicted anyways..then it was truely time for them to go! regardless of what there reassons where.
TO zkoffey:
Jesus dude you would take amber of the new manger? You wanna know why I think you would say that? because she let everyone get by with ANYTHING! witch is true or it would have NEVER GOTTEN THIS BAD IN THE FIRST PLACE!
She gave out free parking like it was toilet paper. anyone who liked her? always got somthing for free that I assure you. so you little jabs about me getting discounts are totaly false and points more in your direction. As I said before. If I took my anonymouse post away. The comments on Cold Storage didn't come from you kiddo it was from me! so don't take credit for my statements.
OH YEAH BY THE WAY. I signed my lease and deposits where paid back in June of 2006 WAY BEFORE YOU MY FRIEND. I was the VERY FIRST application there ever was in this place. I had a hard hat on walking around in this building before there was lights, Stairs and the concreat cealing wasn't even cut out yet. I know more what goes on in this building than you can possiably imagine!
Let me just say this and I'll stop here. In no way I'm I supporting the new manager on a personal level, only on a business relationship aspect of it. Regardless if it's this manager or somone else I will support change and progress in a living envrioment that is safe place to live, and that rules and regulations are followed no matter who it comes from. And for the crap I have to deal with around here. I should be getting a discount and free parking witch I don't!
So just keep this in mind. You might want to get to know her a little better, becuase we can get worse. There are plenty of amber's in the world who would love to take a 12 pack up to the roof, screw tentents and do nothing for the building except get a pay check!
P.S. HELLO LANA!

i'm new to all of this, but from what i've seen this new manager deserves no professional respect as there's no professionalism about her. i had my brand new car with temporary tags on it towed and was told i don't care, as well. it took me talking to her boss for someone to admit wrong doing and get my car out. meanwhile it cost me 2 days wages. support csl all you want. i won't, and will personally make everyday a living hell for the ----- who signed off on my car being towed for no reason.

TO MATTHEWLP1 (obviously someone with too much time as he likes ot bash on everyone)
dude, what is your problem? my one MEASLY post means a lot to me, yet you sit there over and over and bash peoples opinion. we've all had different experiences. here are our opinions. you aren't and don't have to be the CSL reviews moderator. again, you have way too much time on your hands.
1. so, you have several reviews on here that are anonymous. how do we know who you are and what you are even writing? how can future residents know the truth when its all coming from one person? and that one person is bashing others opinions and reviews, to boot.
2. everyone deserves respect. contract or not. especially when i'm paying a company 700 dollars a month. i'm spending money. i deserve good customer service. you can't tell me i don't. and if i get continuous bad customer service, you're damn right i'll leave and spend my money elsewhere. i would be a damn fool to spend my money where ill be treated like crap. in a years time, i'll spend roughly 8500 at this place... too much money to be treated like a second class citizen. but, respect is not my only problem.
3. so, did you ever say i was the frat boy party type...let me just quote you again...
"The new manager has been working her butt off in getting things back under control. and Rightfully so. and if you want the old manager back, then that tells me you where the smoker, the drinker up on the roof, the party frat house type that like the old manger becuase people could get away with anything they wanted."
so, what? if anyone would want the old manager, a new manager....etc. if i agreed with that statement according to you:
i'm the smoker,
the drinker on the roof
and the party frat house type.
and actually, i never had any problems when the old manager was here. i kept to myself and paid my bills. maybe you had a problem, but my problems didnt begin until the new management came in.
4. i remember it being quiet on the weekends (give or take a few concerts or things going on down the street) and i never once had a complaint about noise. parking? ha! if they were so concerned about parking, they would move that god awful construction truck thats taking up 7-8 parking spaces and it hasnt even been used the whole time i've lived here. oh, and they should tow all cars that dont meet requirments like the car that has had expired tags for 2 years.
i still see beer cans, bottles, and cigarettes. i think for the first time they cleaned the cigarettes off the atrium was last week... and people are still not paying rent! what does that matter to you anyway?
dont even get me started on the locks being glued shut. thats a whole post on its own.
oh, and if you think i'm wrong about bottles, cans, trash, cigarettes and cars ive got pictures to prove it.
5. i did give her a chance. when things started going badly for me and a few other people in the building (with whom i associate), i went to talk to her. we were treated like ---- again and again. THAT'S when her chances were up. and people need to know that if they are going to spend a lot of money to live here. not only that, but they will receive mediocre maintenance and managment won't give a damn.
6. you don't need to explain why people left. that's not your responsibility. they left because they were tired of this place. after 8 months of a so-so management and the inception of a new "i could care less" manager, it kind of tends top rub it all in your face. if you were smart you would leave and spend your money elsewhere/wisely. but obviously, you're not. you're more concerned with tracking the reviews here and bashing on other people who have experienced subhuman treatment.
i think i've said enough. go ahead and bash it some more because, in the end, it seems you know my experiences better than i do.

My goodness. MOVE ON GUY. Finally some positive changes to this cool building. I think the new manager is an angel to the place and she is what exactly this place needed. Were you looking for a section 8 place or a nice tax credit place. I am a little confused here with all of these readings. This is all unreal. The rent you pay here is still high. Do you relly want to live somewhere that is that bad.
