I fell in love with the thought of living in Cold Storage. The man that showed me and my roommate around help cloud that judgement (not judging him, he was great, I wish he still worked there). I regret signing a lease. We have been out of water 5 times in the course of 3 months, multiple times for more than 24 hours, never with any warning. They "don't get" your rent check even if you pay it on time. You pay $60 for a parking spot in the "safe" garage, but the garage door is broken multiple times a month. If you don't pay to park in the garage though the parking spots are so small that a 90s Saturn can barely fit in it, and be prepared for your car to be broken into. (Oh, but if you have a broken window, Cold Storage reserves the right to tow your car because it makes their lot look bad) The management has changed 5 times since I moved in (6 months ago). Their hours are horrible for people that work a 40 hour week. They send notes informing you about meetings that you are supposed to go to, the last day, and the meetings that apparantly if you don't attend can lead to you being evicted, are while you are at work, and their office hours are while you are at work, so when can you meet with them' Our dead bolt was broke. We put in a work order the night it happened. It got fixed a month later because another resident made friends with one of the maintence men. Not to mention when we moved in the dead bolt didn't work and it took multiple phone calls to get that fixed. The cops are there constantly, which I guess is a good thing safety wise, except the "extensive" application and background checks of the residents that they supposedly do should not result in the cops there so often. The storage units are free now! But don't forget the fine print, they have been broken into so many times that they aren't charging you to use it, so it's a "use at your own risk". Considering it takes a key card that only residents are supposed to have the storage units shouldn't be accessed by anyone except residents. But I suppose that gives you a good idea about who they let move in.
I wouldn't recommend moving in. EVER!

oh, you couldnt be anymore right. my friends have a storage unit (while they were still charging for it) someone broke in and maintenance wouldn't fix the hole. so they had to put a table up to block the hole in the chicken wire so that someone couldn't steal their belongings. and work orders are now supposed to be put in writing. i dont understand why you cant walk into the office and say "hey this is broken" like most apartment buildings. ugh, this place stinks.

Actually most places want your work orders in writing. In fact, if you check your lease you will probably see that. Do you remember every rant and complaint someone says to you? dumbass.

I am reading all of these postings. You are all a joke and how old are you? The changes are for the best. If you want to live like the slums go move there then. I am shocked reading all of this. The water was shut off by the city months ago to make repairs. The cars oh well. Get them in order. The bldg is new. I was explained very carefuly about who is to take care of the repairs. So it takes a little longer. The building is great. I just think those few who are trouble just need to move on. You surely need to live in the hood or something. The past maintenance guy Shawn was a theif. So again some very good changes are happening. It is funny those who proably can not pay their rent are the ones having issues. I want to feel safe where I live and since I moved in here in April this is the first time I I feel like I can be safe walking in and out of the building. I have to say this is a good thing.
