Ups and Downs, but overall... very pleased

I have lived in Fountainhead for almost two years now and am overall quite happy with the two years I've lived here. Here are a few of the reasons why I like it and a few negatives that you might want to consider before making your decision.
The Good Stuff:
1. Great price! This is the cheapest apartment I could find when moving into a new place. The studio is not even really a studio. It's a great floor plan with a separate bedroom and closing bedroom door!
2. It comes with a washer and dryer, and at the time I moved in, residents did not have to pay for this addition. Not sure if this is the case or not anymore!
3. The location is AWESOME. You are 5 minutes from Town Center Plaza in Leawood (great place to shop) and less than 15 minutes from the plaza, Oak Park mall in Overland Park, and Lee's Summit. It is just a great, central, affordable location.
4. No pet rent (although I think this might have changed too)''
5. I definitely feel safe here and don't mind going out at night to walk my dog alone. Most of my neighbors are very nice and friendly.
Things to Think About:
1. If you don't like smoking or are allergic to smoke like me, then you may want to reconsider. If one of your neighbors smokes, you will constantly smell the smoke in your dishwasher, closets, and throughout your apartment.
2. Management is constantly changing. The office is hardly ever open. They have set hours but are hardly ever there. This makes it very difficult to pick up packages and even pay rent. One month I got charged a late fee because every time I went to the office to pay my rent, the office had "shut down early." They don't even have a drop box to put the rent in.
3. I now have roaches living in my microwave- disgusting.
4. It is definitely an older complex, and the wood decks are rotting and look like they could fall off at any moment.
5. Make sure you live on one of the upper floors, so you don't have to deal with all the noise above you.
6. There is no fitness center... but 24 Hour Fitness at Ward Parkway is about 5 minutes away.
