I'm relocating back to KC and lived in other lofts managed by this company several years ago and had good experiences with them--so despite the newly posted bad reviews, I wanted to take a look at this building and speak with mgt. What I found when I arrived at the building was not only sad, but unacceptable.

First (and of no fault to the mgt/company) the area is a disaster with construction. You can't really drive around the area/find parking, so it was a bit challenging to get to the leasing office. Because of this, I was about 10 mins. late to my scheduled appointment. When I arrived, the leasing agent (I won't use her name) was on the phone and said loudly "I have to go, my appointment FINALLY showed up." I was a bit taken aback--she said it pretty rudely. I apologized for being late and explained that the congestion was a challenge--to which she rolled her eyes.

While we were sitting/she was taking my information to show me the apartments, a phone call came in--she picked the receiver up, didn't say hello--and immediatly hung up on the person. (Who does that'!) Whomever was trying to call, attempted again, and the behavior was repeated. I appreciate that she wanted to get to me, but I would have been understanding had she taken the call. In fact, it is more upsetting that she wouldn't--it could have been a tennant with a serious problem--and this is the attention the mgt. office gives people' Regardless of who was on the other end of that line, it's both unprofessional and unacceptable to hang up on people.

During the tour of the apartment, I had some questions--specifically about the noise in the apartments (as I saw this was a large complaint from people) and building community. Now, I realize leasing agents are limited by Fair Housing Acts as to what they can disclose--and I appreciate that--but I do believe they can offer some information about the community/residents. The leasing agent was absolutly unwilling to have a dialogue about these issues--in fact, she told me she wouldn't comment on either question. When I pressed her for more information about how management handles noise complaints--she again said she would not speak to the issues.

Issues aside, the apartment (and building) was nice and it seemed to be a great layout and reasonably priced. It seemed clean/well maintained.

What I do have issues with, and would warn others on is that the management has clearly taken a position that they aren't going to address concerns--and if you're unwilling to answer questions from me as a prospective tenant, how will you treat me once I'm in a lease with no leverage' I'm guessing they aren't going to be very pro-tenant.

Bottom line: nice apartment, but the staff was appalling, rude and unacceptable--and really, who wants to battle that'

I took my money elsewhere--and found not only a great apartment, but open, honest and responsive managment that made me feel confident that any problems/concerns I hade once I entered a lease would be addressed.
