I just completed an unauthorized three-month sublet at St. Regis & have mixed feelings about it. The halls & elevators are dark, warm, maladorous, & outdated but my eighth (of ten) floor apartment was BRIGHT, freshly carpeted & painted. THE CONCRETE WALLS IN THE BUILDING CANCEL OUT ALL VIRTUALLY ALL NOISE from the neighbors which allow'd me to watch a late movie or crank up the hi-fi without disturbing my neighbors as well as a peaceful night of sleep or study. The kitchen & bathroom were outdated but it is an old building after all. What I found entirely unacceptable though was the (LACK OF) WATER PRESSURE, LACK OF CONVENIENT PARKING, and THE PLUMBING BACKING UP SPEWING SLUDGE IN TO THE BATHTUB though, it must be stated, the 24 hour maintenance crew were quick to respond.

My rent was super-low but if I had signed a lease & paid full rent I would have done all I could to get out of the building asap. If the plumbing & kitchen were better, it would have been an exponentially better experience. THE LOCATION IS PRIME.
