Great simple place --- convenient location --- friendly neighborhood

I lived in Hillside Park on College Lane for 4 years between 1993 and 1997. I was single then - and the 1BHK suited me just fine.

The apartment is very well located...proximity to the freeways, shopping centers, grocery centers, gas stations, banks (there was a Boatmen's next door ...believe it is Bank of America now), ATMs, laundromat (there was this very friendly Korean lady "Chi" if memory serves me right...she and her husband managed a nice drop off laundry in the strip mall across the road). Most of my major shopping was done in the Bannister Mall off of 435, or the Hyper Mart right there (about 3 miles from Hillside).

RedBridge Road which runs perpendicular to College Lane is a very picturesque scenic drive with a rail-road crossing (but you hardly ever get held up).

The Management was reasonably good. There is a small swimming pool and a lot of green acres behind the apartment complex, making for a wild setting.

The neighbors usually kept to themselves, although I had an awesome neighbor - Art. Art was almost 93, and we helped each other on and off (I was in my early 20s back then - was new to the country and Art had helped me out on a couple of occasions with the right advice).

There were a lot of corporates not too far awy from Hillside Park [Hersch back then MMD], Sprint [they've moved now to Overland Park I think], and a few other places.

Some of the best restaurants in Kansas City are reasonably close as well. There's the Martin City Smoke Stack, which is a very pleasant drive down on Holmes, the Smoke Stack near the Bannister Mall (hardly 4 miles away), the usual Burger King, Taco Bell, etc right there.

There are a few other properties right around Hillside Park, but Hillside clearly stands out in that crowd. While the neighborhood is not necessarily classy, Hillside, IMO, is a jewel in that crown.

As you must have gathered by now, I only have nice things to say about this place...so check it out for yourself.
