A wonderful living experience!

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
I have lived in New Quality Hill Apartments for three years now. I have NEVER had a problem with management, maintenance, crime nor other tenants.
The management and staff were nice, cooperative, courteous and thorough. If I ever had a problem in my apartment, maintenance was notified and it was taken care of almost immediately. When the winter comes, the grounds are ALWAYS taken care of.
My apartment was small, but SO convenient is so many ways. NQH possessed TWO of the most important amenities I was looking for in an apartment- and ALARM and WASHER/ DRYER in the unit. At one point and time, I told friends and family that I could live there FOREVER.
There are three reasons I've decided to leave- rent, space and NQH's Affordable Housing policy''''..
My rent started out @ $475 a month. I thought this was a good deal considering all of the perks it had to offer. However, I am now @ $515 and looked around to weigh my options as far as other complexes (and found one that I really like). With the rent going up $25 every year (and insurance in that area being somewhat high) I decided it was time to move on.
My apartment's size was ok in the beginning, but over time you start to accumulate things and need more space to accommodate them. This is what happened in my instance. My walk-in closet is IMMACULATE to say the least'''my bedroom is a nice size as well'''. But with no linen closet nor extra storage to use, you may find yourself stuffing everything into that walk-in and living room closet, as well as your laundry room. If you have a lot of stuff to begin with, a one BD @ NQH is NOT for you!!! : )
My BIGGEST and ONLY real problem with NQH is their Affordable Housing policy. If you are single, living by yourself and you are on this plan and decide that you would like something bigger and decide you want to move into a two BD- THINK AGAIN!!!! You can transfer into another one BD, but their policy states that there has to be at least two PEOPLE living in their 2 BD apartments if you're utilizing this plan!!!! SO, if you are by yourself and think that there may come a time when you want a two BD, you can either get off the Affordable Housing plan (and pay a LOT MORE MONEY FOR RENT EVERY MONTH) or find a roommate because that's the ONLY way you'll ever rent a two bedroom from NQH!!! Honestly, if it weren't for this stipulation, I may never had decided to leave.
Overall, I would recommend ANYONE staying at New Quality Hill downtown. As long as you don't mind living in a busy area with street parking (which was also something I didn't like- since people had to scrounge around to find a place to park when visiting me) you will enjoy your stay. I did!!! : )
