I have lived here for 2 years, and with the new managemnt, I am making a swift exit.

They failed to address windows that do not close fully (the blinds move when the wind blows) even though this is a code violation.

The new staff are the most condescending group of girls I have ever met. The fake smiles are borderline insulting. I have been into the main office to discuss issues and pick up packages weekly, and the staff continues to ask my name each time.

The leasing office is nicely renovated, so that you feel comfortable when you are complaining to them about issues ignored.

The crime in the area has skyrocketed, and the staff covers up incidents that have happened in the area.
-There was an attempted kidnapping in the Surrey Court building, which the staff never reported to the other residents. Most likely because there was a huge liability issue because the outside door to the complex was missing a doornob for weeks. They swept this one under the rug.
-Vehicle break-ins have skyrocketed as well. The security squad they hired spends most of the time hanging out in the same location, and doesn't scare off anyone.
-The church near by is a soup kitchen on Sunday's and the local homeless population flocks to the area. Not a safe environment for anyone.

Stay away!!!

You know you don't have to put up with this. If they aren't fixing basic safety and quality of life things that seriously jeopardize your safety, you have legal recourse. You need to find a legal resource, but one option is to write them a letter saying that this needs to be fixed, and then pay your rent to the court. If it doesn't get fixed, your rent will be refunded to you by the court. You need to find an attorney. A lease is a legal agreement between two parties. These degenerates (I know, I lived in these rat holes and went through what you did) won't fix anything and won't honor the lease. They expect you to, but they don't. So don't put up with it. Force them to honor their lease. When I lived here, someone attempted to abduct my girlfriend right outside my apartment at 11th and Pennsylvania. It doesn't surprise me. Vehicle breakins were rampant. About 7 cars a week got smashed up.

There's probably city codes for things that are hazardous as well
