I never had any extreme problems or attractions as a resident to Roanoke West. I got out of a horrible contract at another apt. complex and the staff, price, and apt seemed idyllic that first year. The office staff was always kind, but seemed a little forced--which is no real problem. Maintenance was always nice, always on grounds or in and out of your building, which could be a good or bad thing. Do get 24hr emergency maintenance. Sometimes they can be a little loud, vacuuming mowing or yelling about fixing something, but it wasnt bothersome.

Got my bike stolen there. Every now and then you get bums or drunks who meander through outside, nothing scary just odd, but its also within 5 minute walking distance to the plaza and westport. car was broken into, radio stolen, in a string of larcenys last year. for a week or two, there wasnt a morning you'd walk out to the parking lot and not see someones windows smashed in and radio stolen. i noticed it happened to the same car 2-3 times that week, everytime he replaced the window. didn't seem to happen to the cars who parked on the street in the front. if come home too late, hard to find spot, otherwise easy as pie during day.

also, when i moved in, you could sit your garbage outside your door every tues and thurs for pickup. they changed it a couple months before i left so that it had to be sat outside the back entrance door; this was a little ridiculous, because if i just stepped out that back door and walked 4 or 5 steps, i could throw it in the dumpster. a waste. also, youd have to throw your trash out during the weekend anyway, because tues and thurs arent far apart enough to garner that much trash. so i ended up having to pay for a service i never used. electricity sucks insofar as its communal--its an average of everyones monthly usage in your complex. waters paid for. my heat was electric, stove was gas.

also, they never discussed with me why my rent went up after my first year was done. 505$ a month was too much to pay for a small, cheaply constructed studio. however, was perfectly functional for a university student/couple. most residents are professionals. never see any children.

when i first moved in, bathroom toilet had unflushed diarhhea in it. could hardly shower without getting a 3 minute pulse of intensely hot water and then cold water. always heard my neighbor singing through the bathroom, but that was no big deal, it was just funny. could hear noisy neighbors from hallway only.

i had to leave halfway through my second year. they made sure it was their business to know why, made me pay two months extra rent to get out of the contract. ive heard many apts make you pay for all the months you were supposed to their tenant, so this may be preferrable.

those were my only complaints.
