I find it humorous to read some of these reviews. "I cant pick up my packages", "The pool is only open until 10", "the Ameneties are not what they appear". First of all, hours of operation etc are explained when you tour the facility and are included in the paperwork give to you when you sign a lease. Not to mention the tour of the facilites takes you up close and personal to the amenaties you mention such as the business center and gym. Did these areas suddenly become larger and more appealing for just your tour and then perhaps by some magic shrink back to their smaller and less appealing state only after you signed a lease' Botton line is you knowingly went into the arrangement despite these apparent flaws. So why ----- about them now, maybe becuase you've never heard of the saying Caveat emptor "buyer beware" and now feel foolish that perhaps you didnt do due diligence for yourself. I too read the article about the unfortunate incident that happened in December last year, and I also read about other similar incidents that happen all over KC MO and KCK, again, while the events are tragic it by no means ever gave me the impression that the residence is unsafe. It is well lit, there are frequent security patrols, and also aware neighbors. If a girl can get snatched up from a mall in Overland Park, then it's a sad truth that these kinds of things can happen everywhere. The crossings did not do anthing to cover this up, and from what I have been told did quite a bit to help investagate this. I will admit, they could do more to encourage a Community Watch programs but short of deputizing all residents, there is little else they can do beyond what they currently do. Which again, is to provide good lighting and regular security patrols which is no different from any other community. I rent a nice two bedroom roomy two apartment and have great neighbors. And we look out for each other. I enjoyed the pool and fully functional hot tub all summer. Even had a few cookouts with the new high end gas grills. These apartments as with any other are only as good as their age and while they have been rehabed, they are by no means "brand new". With that, I have had a couple of instances where I needed maintenace on my apartment. I was blown away by the responsiveness and timely correction of my issue. I was a corporate transplant and had a unique lease at the start of my stay in the Crossings and as a result had to make frequent visits to the office to address to administrative tasks. Eeach and every time I visited the office I was treated with respect and kindness and my needs were addressed immediatly. I am a consomate professional in my work and appreciate the work ethic in which they do business. No request has ever been too large or too small for them and they always go out of there way to accomadate me. Not only as professionls, but also as people. I consider them to be my new friends in Kansas City. If you are looking for an apartment with great proximaty to shopping, friendly and accomdating staff, fair and comprable accomadations and a reasonable rate, well maintained surroudings and buildings and overall great enviroment, I reccomend the Crossings At Barry Road.

What about the girl who was killed there a couple of years ago? This community seems to have a problem that keeps occurring with sexual assault, rape and murder. That alone makes me check it off my list of places to even consider renting as I'm doing my search.
