I have lived in The Plaza House for a total of 5 years. I first lived here for 4 years then bought a house in Waldo. After 3 years as a homeowner I decided it wasn't for me, and when I considered where I wanted to live there was no question. I moved back to The Plaza House. There is no location elsewhere on the Plaza where a person can rent a two bedroom apartment with more than 1000 square feet for less than $700. a month.

There are other reasons I like living here. When I step out the front door I am right on the Plaza near the park, shops, and restaurants. The management is terrific. They respond immediately to maintenance issues. They have also let me install special lighting, my own ceiling fan, and helped me hang my plasma TV on the wall of the apartment. The building is of solid concrete construction and so there is very little noise from neighboring units.

There are a few drawbacks. The parking situation is not ideal, there are not enough spots for every resident. And there has been some vandalism of cars in the lot recently. The management told me they are going to install cameras in the parking lot. Also, the units do not have central air, however, my two window units do a decent job even on terribly hot days. The heating is central and we have not way to regulate it in individual apartments. I live on the 9th floor and it tends to be too hot in the winter while I hear people who live on lower floors don't have enough heat.

Still, the building itself is safe. I like being able to go out of town for weeks at a time and not worry about someone breaking into my home. For the value and the location I would recommend The Plaza House hands down.
