Not Worth the View!

This apartment building is very deceiving. To begin with when you are shown the apartment on a tour, you are shown a gorgeous one-bedroom on the top floor with a great view. However they will not tell you that the apartment that you may get will be on a lower floor, with a less than desireable view and a hallway that smells like a combination of rotting food/cat pee/cigarette and marijuana smoke. Roaches are a common occurance in the building. They spray literally every week/week and a half, but all they do is move the roaches from floor to floor. The water is shut off just about every week also to "fix a leak in one or several apartments". The maintenance man who had been there for years and years quit because of the management staff's ineptness. Unless they are getting you to sign a lease, don't expect anything from the management except a surly attitude. I had a package to pick up one day and the leasing assistant looked put-out because I interrupted her reading of a magazine.
The walls are thick, so your neighbors noise is never really a problem, but music, tv, any conversation and door slamming travels very easily from the hall. Parking is a nightmare and if you don't pay $40 extra per month expect to park on the street and get a few tickets. Utilities are insane in the summer because the AC wall unit isn't powerful enough to cool the whole living room and you have to run it all the time. The radiator heat is never powerful enough in the winter and you may well freeze from the drafty windows.
Overall, the view and location are not worth the hassels. The Rivermarket and Quality Hill SEEM (haven't lived at either) like better alternatives in the same location.
