My husband (fiance at the time of move in) moved in October of 2006. Less than one month later, our furnace caught on fire. It was about 3am on the day we were supposed to get married. If we had not been awake, I hate to think of what would have happened. Apparently, the 2-20 wire was shut in the lid to the furnace by the maintenance people and it caught fire. We had to call 911 and when I went to pull the fire alarms on the building, nothing happened. They didn't work. Also, our smoke alarms had been pulled off by the maintenance people for a reason I don't remember. I had to pull out the fire extinguisher and hose the whole kitchen down. So the next day, when we had people over after our wedding, there were people coming in and out from the office to try and fix the furnace. We didn't have heat for over a week (in November!) and the office never asked if we would like to stay somewhere else. I had to spend over $300 to steam clean our furniture to get the HORRIBLE smell out which I was not reimbursed for. Then about 2 weeks after that, our hot water tank exploded. The management lied to us by saying that they were going to fix the front gates and never have. There were about 7 break in's on cars in front of our building (#1 if you want to know) and they never notified us about them. We just saw all of the glass around the place and talked to our neighbors. I heard a rumor about a body being found around the property a few years ago and when I asked the management about it, they denied the whole thing and said it was a very safe place. Well, a neighbor who has lived in the apartment for a while said that there have been 3 found in the last 5 years and there was a shooting there 2 months before we moved in. I could go on and on more. So, DON'T MOVE HERE!!! Yes, it looks nice with their lake and lake side views from some apartments but do not compromise your safety!!
