BE CERTAIN to read this valuable bit before placing your valuables on the 3 level of apartments. Without the experience of owning a home, I did not recognize the tell-tale signs of water damage to the ceiling, or maybe it was convenantly "painted over" but the fact that the roof leaked constantly from the borrows of squirels from the surronding Oak trees that are located around each building. Management is slow to respond or correct the situation. In my experience, correction was always throwing more patch on top of existing patch, like needing stitches and instead recieving a band aid. The attitude and the effectiveness of the maintanence is completely inadequate to service the 33 year old complex. The inadequate roofing leaked several times during the time period I stayed there. While staying there I also witnessed the "carport" roof, on top of a car, causing damage, which took some time to repair. The absence of any sense of urgency I found only served to accelerate my frustration with the condition and upkeep of the premises. The parkinglot is in poor shape, and patrols are very infrequent, no security is provided internally. I often heard parts of my neighbors heated arguments below my place, long before the police had responded.
If you plan to stay in Kansas City, I strongly discourage you, and for those who do, certainly do not form any judgements about the surrounding community.
