Just Ok...

Lived here for 3 1/2 years and chose the complex because of its park-like setting, huge trees, proximity to Creve Coeur Lake Park, and to work at Westport.

Even at the end I thought the outdoor area - grounds, pool, lake, etc. - were well cared for and in ok shape. Although I did get really tired of people complaining about dog crap being left around when there were more beer bottles full of who knows what' At least you know what's in the dog crap. You have no idea what is in those beer bottles! That was gross. Sometimes the yard boy would just walk around or drive the golf cart tand would pretend to be busy.

The walls are way to thin and you literally hear everything. The walls are also in terrible shape! The wallpaper put up years ago has simply been painted over, but not primed beforehand. There are cracks and bumps. The bumps are probably spackle filled holes that weren't sanded, spiders, other bugs, or carpet fuzzies that got painted over.

The apartments/townhomes aren't energy efficient at all. Be prepared for huge electricity bills, even if you set your thermostat to 83 in summer and to 67 in winter. I lived in a 2 BR apt. and in a 3BR townhouse during my 3 1/2 years and in both places, our electricity bills were HUGE!! The apt. averaged about $100 and the townhouse' Over $200! Take advantage of the budget billing program Ameren offers!!

The only major pest problems we had were snakes in the building. I lived by the lake and they'd gather on the bottom floor of the apt. near our front door. I don't know what kind it was, but when I called the office, they said there wasn't anything they could do about it. A neighbor shooed a big one off of his porch. Pretty scary! I realize it's in the middle of the woods, but BAH!...Snake Away bought at Home Depot worked for a while. I lived in a townhouse away from the lake and the only pest issues there were squirrels in the attic. The office was quick to address the problem by calling a critter control service. Their solution' They set kill traps that hung off the sides of the building, the squirrel(s) would get caught in them, and were left there, in the traps, dead, for up to 3 days, until the critter control service came back to collect the traps. That was nasty! Overall, pest issues weren't too bad because the management always had regularly scheduled sprays in the apts. Sometimes the notification of that could suck. You'd get a notice put on your door that spraying would take place the following day, but the notice was dated 2 weeks prior. That practice was especially bad under the former manager and got only a tad bit better under the new one.

When I first moved here, I was told by my leasing consultant that the longer you lived there, the better you were treated. I didn't have that experience, unfortunately. I did find the manager incompetent, the staff rude, but the maintenance people to be friendly, professional, and prompt. They were the easiest people to interact with.

I was able to have a month to month lease on both the apt. and the townhouse, but thought the extra fees assigned were ridiculously high. The deposit was reasonable. The rent was a bit high for what I got.

Parking was ok during the weekdays and daytime on the weekends. At night, parking sucked! People who have reserved spaces usually parked in a regular space and saved their reserve space for their friends. Especially if somebody had a party, then parking was an absolute pain in the butt!

When I moved there, the complex claimed they were family friendly. I often wondered how a family with kids could live there comfortably when so many of the neighbors had huge, loud parties that went on all night and little was done about it' The second year it seemed like there were tons of parties that went on all week long! It was really annoying during the week because some people had to get up early and go to work. Again, little to nothing was done about noisy neighbors. In fact, the office staff seemed genuninely puzzled that somebody would call to complain about a party on a Tues. night at 3a.m.!!! I know the decks are huge and great for partying, but not during the week!!

The complex improved rapidly once the manager was replaced. All the drama of the former manager disappeared and the office was an ok place to pass through and the clubhouse and parties were actually pleasant to attend. Under the first manager, the office staff could get by with anything. There were even rendezvous that took place between the former assistant manager and one of the maintenance staff! What a mess that was!

Overall, I'd say it was an average place to live. It's not the best place, but it's not the worst, either. Some of the newly constructed apts. have a far worse noise problem than this place did. So, give it a fair chance. Ultimately, your living experience will depend upon you. Good luck!

With Jamie leading the way, I see nothing but great and continued improvement for this complex.
