Not bad, but not great either

These apartments are OLD, built in the early 70's. The ones that haven't been updated show it too. The doors and kitchen cabinents are ancient you can even see some of the original wallpaper (ugh) under the bathroom sinks. I have to agree about the noise, if you live below someone you can hear everything going on in their apartment.
We have a dog and the large deck sold it for us. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that the laundry facilities were poorly maintained and too small for the number of apartments, otherwise we would have never moved in. If you do your laundry and don't encounter at least one washer or dryer out of commission then consider yourself lucky. You would think that the washer maintenance company is located in Toronto or something, because when they're down, they're down for a while.
The grounds are nice, except for all of the people that don't pick up after their dogs. Eventually they'll step in it themselves so you can chuckle on that thought while cleaning your shoes.
Be careful when moving in for sure. Our carpet was already torched when we moved in and they still stuck us $50 for pet damage. Document EVERYTHING! Nothing is too small. Do NOT move into a lower level apartment with a large deck above you. Our deck leaked badly and flooded the person below's bedroom. It happened to another couple down the street from us as well.
You really have to stay on maintenance problems as well. Don't be surprised if it takes more than two calls to get something fixed correctly. Most of that stems from the maintenance staffs half assed attempts at fixing things though, not the office staff. Generally the office staff will only be rude to you if you let them. What they said after I hung up the phone meant nothing to me as long as my issues were addressed.
Overall, not a bad place to live, but not the greatest either. We would still be there if they had hookups for a full size washer and dryer. If you have pets you can't beat the large deck. Our dog loved it.
Hope this helps...
