STAY AWAY...........

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
We decided to rent out an apartment in pheasant run in Feb 2004. Both my husband and myself were new to St louis and didnt know much about the area.
The leasing agent Pat showed us an apartment, but we wanted to see another lake facing apartment.
She seemed reluctant in renting it out and then when we were adamant to rent one near the lake, she commented we had to pay $50 extra for it. we agreed for the same.
When we asked her to show us how the apartment looked, she said it was not ready and that we could see it on the weekend.
However, she said that the deal for the rent would get over soon, so if we liked we could give her a deposit and reserve the apartment
My husband asked her if this deposit was refundable, just in case we changed our mind, she said yes. So we left $150 as a deposit.
But before the weekend, we heard so many bad reviews about the apartment complex from our collegues, that we decided not to rent it out. When we called Pat and told us about our decision not to rent the apartment, she said that the deposit couldnt be returned. When i checked the bank statement, i came to know that they had already encashed the cheque..
no matter how much i tried talking to the leasing agents, I still havent recieved my $150 deposit..
please do not leave any deposits with the agents till you move in...
Also the reviews i heard from my collegues were that the apt was very old, there were few incidents of short circuits and fires in the apartment, that the ceilings and walls creaked all the time and the laundry facility in winter time was horrid
