Pinewood Park Apartments are extremely attractive and in a wonderful smaller community (Republic, MO). We were instantly impressed. The landlord, is a very personable fellow and struck us as very competent. He was very understanding of our situation (it was during a the horendous ice storm Spring of 2007) and got us an apartment very quickly. Since we needed the apartment right away, he did not clean or repaint the apartment, as normally would have been done. That was fine with us - we were in a bad situation.

We lived in the apartment for a total of 6 months. We were very responsible tenets and did our best to keep the apartment as clean as possible (we even didn't wear our shoes inside). When we left, we cleaned up the apartment but didn't carpet clean it. We were expecting to get our $300 deposit back. It never came. My wife called Darrin and he said that it just takes time and to be patient. It still didn't come. Two months later I was in Springfield on business and stopped by to get it from him. He pulled out our file and commenced to tell me that my wife and I had "trashed" the apartment. Among the things listed was that he had to carpet clean the apartment twice - remember, we didn't wear our shoes in the apartment. I was quite upset and tried to reason with him, but it was to no avail. My wife later called him and he was extremely rude to her.

To make a long story short, the landlord is a crook. He comes off as being friendly and responsible, but in the end he WILL take your security deposit. We were talking to some of our friends who rented there, and they never got their security deposit back either. So, if the above story doesn't bother you, rent at Pinewood Park Apartments. If the story does bother you, there are MUCH better apartments right next door called Republic Palms. Do yourself a favor and go there. bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC

i was shown an apartment at both pinewood park and republic palms, the one at pinewood park was roomy and clean, the one at republic palms had stained carpets and not so clean bathrooms. if you move into a nasty apartment do they charge you for the mess? i hope not or id feel sorry for people at the palms.

The police have been called to Pinewood Park plenty. Ask the local police about that nut Linda Phelps who sat her unit on fire over at Pinewood Park and watched it burned. Best of all she was not even suppose to be living there because she was on parole but the landlord rented her an apartment in her daughters name because he was friends with the daughter and she was his tenant.

His name is Darin and he's a wonderful guy until you wrong him. He will do what he can to help any of his tenants out unless something "wrong" has happened. I know Darin very well...I have even cleaned some of the apartments for him. He will not "steal" your deposit as you mentioned. There's got to be more to the story than what you're saying.

Linda Phelps was in 2005. A different manager at the time before Darin. (maybe the previous one is the dishonest one?) BTW, She is serving jail time for that...
