I was told this wasn't Section 8 when I moved in 3 years ago but I have just found out that it is government subsidized and MANY of the people are living here for FREE or little to no money at all. This is a VERY bad neighborhood, I would say 80% black and very noisy, cops/fire dept are ALWAYS here and just not a safe neighborhood. The only good thing I can say is the apartments are super nice and spacious and the management team is pretty responsive....would be a great place to live if they can get rid of the trash but what kind of people do you expect when alot of the people don't even have to pay rent!

I'm not taking offense to what you said about section 8 because i know you weren't referring to my family. Even though we are on section 8 we work very hard. My mom is a full time student and part time worker and my sister, brother, and i all work and go to school to help her. I just wanted to stick up for the few who are on housing assistance and do deserve the help they recieve. I agree there is some trash in the apts. But if you have kids you might have the option of living in the front by the office like my mother did. I wonder if there's a way you can get an apt in the front. I promise you it's so different. If you can't i sincerely wish you luck in finding a nicer apartment.

Hi - I completely agree with you that not all the people on government assistance are bad people. I personally know a few people, like your family, that are on assistance that work very hard to make ends meet and provide for their family. I commend you for that and have so much respect for people like you. Unfortunately the "trash" in the neighboorhood make people like you that are on assistance look bad. I lived there for over 3 years and it just got worse every day it seemed. When there is a 12 year old with a gun at the bus stop, a lady robbed in the parking lot in the morning, 12-13 years olds on HOUSE ARREST, drugs around all the time and cops there every other day it's definitely not a safe place to live, security guard or not. Everytime I saw the so-called security guard she was sitting in her car smoking and reading - she'd drive around once or twice and that was it, plenty still went on while she was there. I know several St. Charles County sheriffs and they are regulars around there and thought I was nuts to live there and told me to get the hell out. You just mention the name Ashwood and they just cringe. It's really a shame because they are very nice apartments and some of the tenants are good people working hard to make a living (like your family) but all the trash in there cancels everyone else out. I got the hell out of there and am SOOOOOO glad I did! The place I live now is 200% better, it's so quiet and safe it's unbelievable, I should have moved years ago! I hope you don't have the same problem I and many other people did, every single person in my building that I knew wanted out of their leases because it was getting so bad, myself and 2 others left, one moved to the back and the other 3 were saving up for a house - pretty sad when everyone wants out. Anyway, good luck to you and I hope that I cleared the air about goverment assistance; I completely respect all of you that work very hard to have what you have and there is nothing wrong with getting help when you need it...it's just the other losers that get assistance and do nothing but sit on their ass and cause trouble around the neighborhood. I agree with that all people on government assistance are not bad but the ones that don't care about how the property looks just makes it look bad on everyone that receives assistance It is so sad to see how a once very nice quiet neighborhood has gone down. I wanted to break my lease in 2005 but my noisy neighbors moved things I thought got a little better but after that robbery I just knew it was time to get out now I have new neighbors again who are loud I can't wait to move in August . . it is sad when you are not comfortable in your own place due to noise level .Some people just don't care this place is a total dump. I would not recommend this to anyone. Good luck to you if you continue to stay there because that is no place I want to raise my kids.

The comment about 80% are black i would not not agree .And as far as noise i would say all races kept up noise in my building I had white and black neighbors and both were noisy and kept trash out side of the building so don't even take it to that level making it a race thing. I can agree with you on the fact about some of people are paying little or nothing and it is some that don't care about how the property looks and then you have some who can't stand nasty living. If you have a problem with living around black people maybe you have a problem within yourself. You should have a problem with the place just being a bad place to live. Now if you want to get real it is meth in the apartments and police found in a white couples apartment so check your facts before you want to try and make it a race thing!!!!!

i lived there for 3 years and never once had any problems management was great maintaince was quick and responsive people in my building were quiet (at night) and rent was cheap my family and i are considering moving back in!!!
