Not For Me

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003

If I had left home to be wild and free, then this would be the place for me. Most residents are college students, which made for great traffic jams at 7:30 in the morning.

I expected there to be parties like there were in the previous place we lived. These parties were not the same. Police were over on many occassions. I worked until midnight on the weekends and had to call my fiance out to my car to walk me across the parking lot because there were so many people huddled around my door that I didn't feel safe. I was glad to be living on the top floor on the day that someone decided to puke over the side railing above the stairs.

These same people that had this party later had their apartment broken into by someone going through the attic crawl space. Yes, we heard noise that night, but we thought they were having another party, and we thought nothing of it.

Families started moving in below us with children that dribbled a basketball all day long. They would play near the cars, and you wouldn't know if they hit your car if you didn't have an alarm. That is, providing you could get a spot. The noise was so bad that I made the MWSC library practically my second home. If you can't study in a dorm; you can't study here either.

The insulation is thin. I could hear the people below peeing when I was combing my hair. The bathroom sinks and bathtubs were constantly leaking. Our dishwasher stopped working and then adopted a funny smell. Maintenance claimed there was nothing wrong with it. The hard water made the dishwasher useless anyway. The soap would never wash off the dishes.

Snow removal was not good.

Overall, the apartments are falling apart. I knew I didn't want to move in here but I did because we were moving in with someone that already lived here. In addition our rent at Chatsworth for a 2 bedroom was the same as the Broadmoor 3 bedroom at the time. When I look back, I really think that we should have renewed our lease for a 3rd time at Chatsworth. Aside from knowing lots of people who lived there, I was absolutely miserable at Broadmoor.

I should say that the office people were really nice and seemed really professional except if you had a noise complaint letter, then they would put a note on every door in your building including yours. I think eventually the rowdy bunch was evicted, but I can't remember. The laundry room was clean most of the time, but there are only 8 washers, and some people felt the need to use them all at once quite frequently.
