I am currently an intern at Barnes Jewish and I picked this place because I didn't know the area. I chose Metro Lofts because it was across from the hospital, but I realized there are many cheaper and larger options in the Central West End. The management takes too long to respond to repair requests and they often lose my packages. The mail service is terrible because the mail person makes no effort to sort any mail so I lose valuable checks, bills. The alley to the parking garage is always blocked by the Panera bread truck on one end and garbage trucks on the other end.
The loft design is not child friendly and the rooms are all connected together with open spaces so there is no privacy in my two bedroom.
I think it Metro Lofts has an advantage of location as long as your unit is not facing Forest Park. The units are also relatively new so the appliances are up to date. The parking is climate controlled and I feel my car is safe.

Thanks for your post! My wife will be coming in July as a fellow at the Barns-Jewish. We have no child and no need for intra-apartment privacy (she is always in the hospital :-) so I think this might work for us despite your low rating. We are only going to be there for one year, so cheaper and bigger is not as important as closer and safer. I will keep the management's ineptitude in mind (aren't they all?) and rent a P.O. Box. Is there any other thing I should know?
What do you mean about the "forest park" facing units? Aren't there only one or two gates to get in and out of the complex? Please clarify and thanks so much in advance.

I have never even lived in this place and I know how bad it is! They prey on the fact that 90% of their tenants are coming from out of state, rent sight-unseen and need to be as close to barnes as possible (residents, fellows, locums.) Do a little research and you will find amazing deals on buildings only 1 block away, with management staff that will at least not be completely stupid.
