Pitiful place. When I moved to the complex the staff was experienced, friendly, and more than willing to meet the needs of the tenants. Unfortunately that changed to a staff that is not only not qualified to run an apartment complex but will go to any lengths to make sure you are unhappy with your home. The grounds have suffered as have the apartments themselves. The staff used to do routine maintenance, change air filters, check smoke detectors, check refrigerators and make sure entry lights were in order. Also, in winter, the grounds were maintained and snow removal was done before daylight. Not anymore. There is no screening of tenants so there are many instances of people being allowed to move in that simply would not have been tolerated before. And worst of all, be sure you can afford to lose your deposit. If they can find nothing wrong, they will actually make a problem just to keep your money. This is simply the worst place I have lived. Living on the street might be preferable.

I was a tenant for only 1 year. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my apartment when I moved out in July 2005. I am still fighting to get my deposit back. I've gone as far as sending certified letters to the manager of Southmoor as well as the property management company in Clayton to no avail. I've not received a single response, good or bad, from anyone. I've come to the conclusion that I'll never get my deposit--about $400. As a single woman I can hardly afford to lose that.

Don't feel like you are alone. I am seriously considering seeing if I can find any people to participate in a protest of some sort or to go to Michelson's office as a group. I also have not gotten my deposit back and I even had professional cleaners do a move out cleaning. I am so angry about that place I can't see straight.
