We found this apartment last November and since we were at a place where we really needed to get out, my girlfriend and I decided to move out to the Pavilion. We took over a lease for this one girl that was moving because of school, so we had till the middle of February to decide if we wanted to renew the lease or not. Really great deal, and it was cool for the first 2 months. So we decided to renew the lease for a year. It was a couple weeks later that the first problem started. This guy moved in below us and has been playing his stereo VERY loud. I don't know if the building is just built like junk, but it shakes the floor when he turns it up. We have complained to management several times and they have put notes on his door, but it hasn't changed anything. We are calling the cops next time because it's just ridiculous. Big problem number 2 is the maintenance. There is track lighting in the kitchen and one of the light things broke and kept burning out lights after a few minutes. It took them a month and 3 visits to bring us a new lighting thing. On several occasions they said they would come by and fix it, then never showed. They didn't call or anything.
Other issues:
Other tenants are constantly having parties and are loud every night.
Power goes out for a minute or 2 at random every few days. Forget about setting the microwave or VCR
Not enough staff, every time I go to the office, I have to wait about 30 minutes.
Nothing is included in the price of rent, other apartment complexes around here include at least water and trash. Some include cable.
The only internet service available at this location is a tiny company with high prices for low speeds. I currently pay $30/mo for a 250kb/second connection. Just down the street at other apartment complexes can get better cheaper internet.

All in all, I wish it didn't cost so much to break the lease. I would drop this place today if it wasn't so high. We are going to start looking for somewhere else to live soon.

Would I recommend the Pavilion' Unless you are a college kid that likes to party every night and has money to blow, I would say this place isn't for you.

Neighbors can be a problem, this is the reality of renting. I would definitely call the authorities on him/her. Did you try talking to him yourself? On the internet thing...why dont you get DSL from AT&T? I know I had DSL when I was there for 2 years, 1.5mb, I just dont see how you cannot do the same, and that is for 30 dollars/month. Kinda makes me wonder if you are reporting on the same apartment complex. I am pretty sure there is only one Pavilion Apartments in St. Louis, MO. Oh, and my light in the kitchen also had some sort of issues on one of its 3 bulbs, although I didnt burn out any bulbs. It just didnt work after that first week. If your's is shorting out and destroying bulbs, I would get some fire insurance for your gear and a fire safe for your priceless photos and things. Definitely get that checked out quick. I doubt the Pavilion would want to lose their building either. Hope your exp gets better. Good luck with the neighbors.

I lived there for a year aug 2007-aug 2008. I think it is overpriced. My sheets were red and somehow they stained the walls because my bed was against the wall...odd. The carpet was crappy and the blinds break really easily. There were some retards who decided to make parking spots wherever they wanted. The launndry guy is nice and i never really felt like talking to the staff so they didnt bother me. We had leaky showers and tubs. My roommate was a party animal and that is one reason I moved out. There are alot of college kids who apparently dont need sleep that live there. No crime that i experienced. The pool was great, always clean. My kitchen always made noises which constantly freaked out me and my roommate (only 2 girls by ourselves). I think you can find more for your money. It is nice that they give you a student discount. including monthly bills and the discount a 2 bed 2 bath came out to about 920$ a month.

As original poster, I want to clear things up. response to js_ingle... Not a fan of AT&T, so I didn't want to even bother with them. BAAAD luck in the past etc. We weren't burning the bulbs because we didn't know what we were doing. I'm an electrical technician and kinda know my way around these kinds of things ;) The problem was that it was a faulty unit and they replaced it with faulty units and we were responsible for replacing the bulbs each time. And those bulbs weren't cheap, something like 7$ for a replacement. In response to radicalrach... Glad you saw some of the same crap I saw. Staining the walls from your bedsheets? What kind of low quality paint are they using?! The staff was always friendly, but in my experience they never wanted to help. Also, every time I went to the office with my girlfriend to talk about something whether it be a complaint or question, they would straight up ignore me and only talk to her. You said that you can find more for your money and you couldn't have hit the nail harder right on the head. I rented a 2br house for the past year at $900/month in Kirkwood and recently bought a 3br 1100sqft house in St. Peters and my mortgage comes out to $1000/month. If I can pay a little more and OWN my own house, you bet your tail I will! In my wildest dreams I would love to let everyone know what kind of crappy place The Pavilion is. Of course there are worse places out there, but for the amount of money you are paying at The Pav I expect good service. If I wanted to live around noise, bad neighbors, theft, and crappy service from the office... I would move to north county or something and pay 300-400/month rent.
