If I found my way back to STL, I'd choose WD again ..

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
Overall, I liked Waterford Downs. When I moved from downtown Saint Louis to West Saint Louis, I was originally planning to move to Oxford Hills. This will sound petty, but my decision to not move there came down to the fact that their garages were so small it was impossible to park!
So I started looking around again, and found Waterford Downs. I took a tour with the then-manager, ------ -- my decision to move there came when I realized that ------ knew every resident's name. Management plays a big role in how your apartment experience will be, so I moved there.
I was there for 2.5 years, and got to live through the management shift in 2003. That turned out to be a good thing, because the new company budgeted for and made some needed repairs to things such as the roads and exterior facades of the buildings.
The garages are a nice touch; they're not perfect (occasionally leak, get musty) but I liked knowing I always had a spot that was mine, and was safe.
The units have washers/dryers in them, so you don't have to worry about jockeying for position in the community W/D facilities.
The fitness center is 24/7; it's lacking on gear, but if you just want to run now and again there is a television and two treadmills.
