Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005

I lived at West Pointe from October 2003 - May 2005. I realize my review is very old, but if it helps someone out then I did my job! The first apartment they gave us was a ground floor end unit. I began moving some of my stuff in with my dad in the evening and there were roaches crawling all over the kitchen and bathroom. I refused to live there or move any more of my stuff in. That was pure filth. They allowed me to switch apartments to a top floor end unit in a different building...of course I had to pay a little more for this unit, but at least it wasnt roach infested. I saw the wolff spiders that people on here speak of, they were large and scary. I complained and asked my unit to be sprayed but they only did it on the scheduled times.
The kicker for me was there was a squirrel living in my walls, yes, I am telling the honest to God truth. Squirrels ate through the soffits where the outside wall and roof met. This somehow allowed them to get into the walls of my apartment and I could hear them scurrying around and squealing at various times of the day. I got so scared that I was going to look at my vents and see a squirrel looking back at me. I dont think maintenence took me seriously at first and they set a trap on my deck and then on the roof. This went on for months until I finally said you do something about this NOW! They came and cut out the ceiling outside the master bedroom in between the linen closet and the utility closet and set a trap up there and then closed the ceiling. I think it took a couple weeks but the squirrel was finally caught in the trap and that was the end of that.
When I moved out they claimed that my dog peed all over the carpet in every room. This was not true, however they took my deposit and then some because they said they had to replace the carpet. My dog did have a few accidents, but only in one room and I cleaned them, plus, they didnt replace the carpet before I moved in, so it was already old carpet.
I lived in West Pointe alone for a majority of the time and never felt unsafe. I thought the neighbors were friendly and I never really heard them. I never had a problem with parking, but I honestly dont remember if they cleaned snow and ice up right away.
I thought the grounds were okay, not the best, but not the worst. The pool is nice, but it always felt like it was a huge spring break party atmosphere.
I think the best thing West Pointe has going for itself is the location and the price of rent. (at least the years I lived there, Im not sure of the prices now.) Would I live there again' No, but I own a home now. Ive had friends who have lived there in the last year or two and loved it.
