Good for college

This was my first apartment, and it wasn't all that great but sufficed for college.
PROS: Helpful and prompt staff. If you had a problem, maintenance would be there in less than 24 hours, and then were always so friendly. The location is a five-minute walk from WashU, and is right in between two bus stops on either end of the street. The post office is just around the corner as well as a very trendy strip of stores. Shop around available units because I happened to get a newer kitchen than others.
CONS: The floors creaked, the paint on the walls were slopped on with every tenant, most of the windows didn't open, there were bugs, and you can hear every person that came into the building and what your neighbor above you was doing. The neighborhood is safe in that it's on a street that has a campus-owned apartments which are patrolled, but on my first day there, I heard that somebody in the next building had their car stolen. They don't keep the grounds well-kept, so it looks like dead foliage all year round. Getting a parking spot is as risky as playing in the casinos of Las Vegas...good luck getting a spot. Management is pretty mean; they threatened to sue me for not turning in my apartment permit to the city, when the city hadn't processed it because they had over 500 others to do (it was the beginning of the school year so a whole flock of new tenants were in the city). So instead of asking me what happened, they went straight to threatening to sue me...how unprofessional.
The rent was cheap here and it was close to campus, which are the only two reasons why I chose this apartment. But in hindsight and after living in much nicer apartments, I wouldn't rent from these people again.
