I really love the Parkwest apartments, and the management is awesome.
However, the maintenance guy is a patronizing pig who assumes that people are stupid just because they're female, when sometimes the reality is that they actually know more about what they're talking about than he does. He just comes off as rude.
The gate gets stuck all the time and sometimes people have to stay at a friend's house because they can't get into Parkwest where they live. Even if you know how you're supposed to go about properly entering the code, if it's a car in front of you, or 5 cars in front of you, who gets it stuck, that doesn't help you, does it' It needs to be fixed or a new one needs to be put in.
The apartments are very nice, spacious, and lots of storage space in each one. The fixtures and everything are quality, except for the linoleum in the entryway, bathroom(s), and kitchen -- either it's low quality or it's just had a bad wax job before we moved in, but it's so that no matter how much you clean it, it always looks dirty.
Also, whomever painted the apartments before we moved in, was a shoddy worker and very lazy, because they didn't tape around the doorknobs/mirrors/floors and such, because there are paint specks and white spots on everything so even when you clean stuff up, there are specks on it anyway.
The airducts are stinky and gross; whoever lived here before us must have smoked in the apartment or something, but every time the air comes on, it makes the apartment smell like cigarette smoke, even though the maintenance man came and put a fragrant thing in the vent to try and mask it; instead it only made it smell like old men and cigarettes, haha. Cigarette smoke is an irritant to most people with sinus issues like everyone in my apartment, so that sucks.
Also, the apartment has a noise policy, but I don't know if they just don't enforce it very well or what, but there's an entire group of people who REFUSE to follow it. They sit in their cars in the carwash area and in the parking lot with their bass up so high it rocks the building, or the music itself up so loud that you can hear every syllable of the lyrics inside your apartment...or there are the people who live below me who are apparently some sort of "musician" or DJ, I don't know. Anyway, it's so loud and they yell into microphones and play keyboard really loud and turn up the bass really high and sometimes there's a saxophone at 2-3AM. It's crazy. The policy says that if you have complaints on you 3 or 4 times, you are supposed to be evicted, but it hasn't happened yet.
When I call to complain about someone who's being noisy, it takes sometimes 30 minutes or more before the noise stops, and sometimes it never does, like maybe they never actually "send someone to see about it" like they say they do.
Because of this, we are moving out at the end of July when our lease is up, we can't deal with all this noise. You can't sleep at night in this building and you can't rest during the day if you're sick or work a night shift, it's absolutely horrible and these noisemakers have no respect or human decency.
Also, if you ever get home later than 10PM at night, you have to park in the carwash, because there are so many people who stay here that don't even live here, that people who actually live here and pay rent can't get a partking spot. It's ridiculous and rude. Whomever it is with all these guests and playing the music in the apartment downstairs should have rented a house or something instead of being rude and annoying to the other people in an apartment complex.

I really like the apartments themselves, and I love the location, and I like the management, but the noise issue is what's forcing us to go elsewhere.
After living in the Mark V apartments for two years, the management here at Parkwest seemed like goddesses, they are very nice and always smiling, never snarky or rude.

You signed a lease to live in an apartment. Apartment living means you share the same building with neighbors. You are going to hear your neighbor's music, toilets, showers, and voices. If you don't want noise.. move into a house. Hell, out in the country somewhere. Noise should never be something that is thrown into a review of an apartment, because it's a total given. But I will give it to you on the parking, because it does suck!

I think that there is a level of courteousness when it comes to noise levels in apartments. Not everyone can afford a house! So whoever wrote this response is ignorant. Noise levels should be respectful and at a level of courteousness. Only a noisemaker would have written such an idiotic response to this review!
