Full Review Cypress Lakes

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009

I currently live in Cypress Lakes. I moved from Tupelo 2 years ago to work for Harrah's Entertainment. The property is very convenient to anyone working for any of the casinos, is right next to a family dollar and a large strip mall, and it's only 20 minutes from the nearest large town; so you get the out of town atmosphere, but there are still conveniences close by.
As soon as I pulled onto the property for a visit, I knew that I would be comfortable here. The grounds were in great shape, the management was very friendly, and the neighborhood was considerably quiet. The rental rates for the first year special are very fair, the next years are a little more expensive, but still seem to be a fair rate.
I live in an apartment facing the street, so I don't get quite the scenic pleasure that the people in the apartments on the lakeside get, but for me, I'm really not home enough to look out the window anyway. When I am home though, I do like to sit out by the lake and play with my dog while taking in the beautiful scenery. The complex is a very pet friendly neighborhood, many of our neighbors have pets.
I live next to the maintenance shop, and the crew most days is very quiet and respectful of the people around them. Some days it gets a little noisy after 8 A.M., but that's understandable and definately not an everyday occurance.
The parking is fairly nice. I usually get to park very close to my apartment. I would to like to have some kind of covered parking, but don't know if it would help the whole community.
The apartment itself is very roomy. There is lots of closet space in the master bedroom, which is nice. The living room is big enough to fit a couch, loveseat, recliner, coffee table, end tables, tv, and lamps and there's still alot of room to move. The master bedroom is big enough for a queen bed, large dresser & chest, and 2 night stands. Faucets in the bathrooms and kitchen are a little cheap, but standard for an apartment. The fixtures are standard apartment fixtures; but I would like to see a nicer fixture in the dining room. The kitchen is a little on the small side, but has all the modern conveniences (built in microwave/vent, coil top stove/oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and the LOUDEST garbage disposal you've ever heard (you can hear the neighbors disposal running). The patio is big enough for a large gas grill with side burner and a small 4 seat table. I use the master bedroom for storage. I like that the kitchen, dining room, and living room are all open to each other, making the apartment feel bigger.
One concern that I have about the community is that there is no storm shelter close-by. The complex is in the middle of a field right past the Mississippi River. Storms are usually extremely violent in this area with very little warning because they build off of the river, and I believe that the community should have a safe place for its residents to go to escape danger. A couple of the street lights by my apartment are out frequently, so it's somewhat dark at night time, but I still feel pretty safe.
Maintenance at the facility is very good. I've only had to call on maintenance a couple of times, but they have responded very quickly and fixed the problems that I had.
I would definately recommend this apartment complex to my friends who are starting off. P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
