Disappointed For Several Reasons

I live in the new Phase 2 apartments. Let me start with some tips, then I??ll get to my complaints.

(1) If you have a pet, don't bother paying the $400 nonrefundable pet deposit. First of all, they never inspect the apartments to see if you have a pet. Secondly, even when they find out you did not pay a deposit they do nothing.

(2) If you live in Memphis you don't have to pay state income tax. Living in Mississippi costs me about $125 a month. Had I known this I could have got a more expensive apartment in Memphis and broken even.

(3) Don't forget to license your car with Mississippi plates or you will get a $300 ticket as I did. They have a cop here whose whole job is to go around to apartments and ticket out of state plates. And guess how much it costs to license a fairly new car in Mississippi' $350!!!

Now to the complaints?? My major complaint is that the walls are paper-thin. I can literally hear my next-door neighbor pee, cough, talk, close his cabinets, etc.

When my neighbor who lives below me smokes at night, my bedroom reeks of nicotine. I eventually figured out that some how it was wafting through some of the electrical plug-ins in my bedroom. I covered them up with tape, which has helped quite a bit. But come on! What's up with that! My wife is pregnant. I don't want that filling up our bedroom at night.

Most annoying are my party animal neighbors. Keep in mind that this complex is right across the street from a community college. These neighbors have parties almost every night of the week. They last until about 3 or 4 AM. There must be at least a dozen rowdy people crammed in that one bedroom apartment. Pot fumes fill the breezeway outside my door; it even drifts through my laundry closet. Several neighbors have complained numerous times about these neighbors, but the office has been no help.

Needless to say I am moving out when my lease is up. The management apparently has no problem leasing out their apartments to whomever--even if that means driving away good, clean, quite, always-on-time-with-their-rent tenants.

I could go on and on, but I'll just mention two more gripes: my car was spray painted while living here. Also someone backed into my car and busted out the back bumper and taillight but left no contact information. Oh and someone was murdered in Phase 1 apartments last year. That??s nice. k6tKKzmJrmATU2ap682S

I do not think that you should hold Civic Center Apartments accountable for the Mississippi state income tax. Also if you are living in the state of Mississippi, you should have the proper tags for your vehicle. It looks like to me that you should have done your research on the state of MS taxes. It is our own fault. I live at the Civic Center and I have had nothing but a great experience here. I hardly ever hear my neighbors. There are times that I can hear doors open and shut, but come on this is apartment living, you are not in a house! I also haven't had any problems with management, they are very helpful and if I have a problem, it has always been resolved. By the way did you not see the college across the street when you were signing your lease? Get a grip!

happytenant111 fake?? The walls are paper thin and I also can hear when my neighbors do the slightest things. You can't hold the apts accountable for neighbors' noise but this place was built with shotty craftsmanship the walls are cracking in my unit and on the ceiling in the breezeway from obvious foundation problems. This cheap white flaky paint kills me and in the summer time when I have to spray the millipedes and spiders it stains. I also got a ticket and had to register my car in this awful place. Anxiously awaiting lease to be up

These apartments are a joke. Who the Hell built them? Yes it is a bad place to live. And No these apartments aren't worth 800 for a 2 bedroom in what a freaking joke this place is. And NO the office workers don't live here Nor would they. They know these apts are cheap and nasty.
