Upon looking for an apartment in Southaven, we wanted something spacious and close to the interstate for work and school...

THE BAD
The day we moved in was the worst. The renters before us were heavy smokers, and it showed. When I sprayed the blinds, this horrible smell appeared and smoke/nicotine ran down in brown drips. The light fixtures were covered in the same thing. The carpet (and pads underneath) reaked of the same smell. There were pet urine stains in the living room. The freezer was covered in melted popsicle and under the oven was melted chocolate candy, among other items. Our living room floor leaks every time it rains and all maintenance did was fix the outside problem...they left our wet soggy carpet and the now brown wet wood. Since we're on the bottom level, every single time it rains all the mulch and leaves fill our patio. It's a hassle to keep clean. I can hear my neighbor upstairs snoring every night, his wife coughing, and both of them urinating, not to mention the man next door yelling obscenities at his wife. Needless to say, the insulation is below par. I had no problem with the office staff at first, but recently they have gotten really snotty and rude with me for no reason! The pool isn't usually that crowded during the day, but on the weekends you might wanna steer clear until dark. Lots of fast drivers through the parking lot, people running stop signs, etc and no one to enforce the rules. People sit in their ghetto cars with music blaring so loudly my living room windows rattle, and nothing is done about it.

THE GOOD
The apartment is more spacious than others we saw. The kitchens are little hallways, like in most apartments. Since they're handicap accessible, the hallways are much larger, as are the bathrooms. Great amount of storage as well. Has food disposal, dishwasher, W/D connections. Close to the new mall and restaurants and the interstate.

CONCLUSION
Even though moving in day sucked and the insulation is bad, we couldn't have picked a better location and we enjoy the extra space for the price.
