I will start out by saying that in less than a month I have been alienated, harassed and stricken with fear. They have very corporate-like policies that hold the landlord down from being ethical. After giving them $300, they want you to pay for your last month's rent, which is about $750. That is a thousand bucks right off the bat! Now, here is my story. They make you pay gas and electric, and to do that they have the utility companies put the bill under your name. Later that day the landlord told me to give a check for 7-seventy-five. I wrote her a check for $7.75, thinking it was for the utilities. 5 days later I get a little notice saying I owed them $775 dollars. It was a little hard suddenly setting aside $775 after just buying furniture and food, but I managed. So, I spent the next two weeks with almost no money! Then, I come home, not even a month later, with a notice saying that I owe $180. I took it to the landlord, who is a very nice lady, and she said I owed $100 dollars for the 3 days I lived there the month before. Now, the company charged a 10% on top of the $100 . . . do the math - that doesn't work out. They gave me 10% of the total monthly rent. My landlord was nice enough to drop it from $80 to $10. So now I owe my land lady $110. When I gave her the $775, it would have been a great time to tell me about the utility fees AND the $100. I was given a 3 days notice about a three-day rent that I had no knowledge of (apparently my landlord was on vacation when they usually remind tenants). That is unethical.

I'm a little confused as to why you have such a problem with these apartments. I have lived here for over a year and I love it! The staff is amazing, everyone in the office is always so friendly and the maintenance staff does a great job. As for your complaint against moving in expenses, the only time you have to pay last months rent along with the $300 deposit is if you have crappy credit. And when you move in you pay a full months rent up front and then for your second month you pay the pro-rated amount from the month you moved in. So even though its expensive at move in, the second month makes up for it. And I dont know what the rest of your complaint is about with the utilities. Its not very hard to get them switched to your name- all you have to do is call. Also, talk about being a drama queen for being "stricken with fear". Stricken with fear over what? Did the manager try and attack you or something?
