..but now I'm starting to wonder what is going on.
Not friendly at ALL!. Be warned, if you have kids, do NOT move here!! I'm not sure why things have changed, but they have.
Staff, especially mgt is plain rude and apparently does not care for residents with children. In fact children are looked down with less value than all the dogs that poop on the apartments' property.
Some guy just recently was seen by residents exposing himself in broad daylight only a few feet away from little children playing outside. He ran away when parents saw him.
Mgt still has done nothing to warn residents about this incident.
At previous apts I lived in when a crime occurred at the apt, mgt would send flyers out to everyones mailbox. Here they will not do that.
There used to be some very friendly people working at the office. Not any more. Some(not all) of the young office staff that do work there are clueless pawns.
If your single(not female), college student, have no kids, do not like kids or retired then this is the right place for you.
The other apartment nearby(Cranbrook) might be more family oriented, albeit expensive.
BTW maintenance is really friendly so far. They seem to be really cool and laid back.
But this might change too.
Also don't move here unless you have lots of money. The Biltmore Forest area is for people with deep pockets. Industry and other blue collar jobs are being pushed out the area in place of low paying tourist jobs.

sounds like you have sour grapes because things did not go your way,I saw that news story and read it in the paper, neither story matched, story changed with all the gossip, I come from a BIG city Chicago and this little blimp of maybe a "flasher" is no big deal, get over yourself

My response is in all sincerity with no malice intended. I agree with you that crime is geographically relative. Asheville area crime is starting to increase a bit, but it doesn't compare the Chicago or other crime infested cities like New Orleans. But when crime becomes personal and it violates and corrupts the ones you would die for then it becomes very personal. I'm over myself now, whatever that means! :)

Go Ron Paul!
