Kenilworth Inn Apartments is a large stone renovated hotel (historical landmark) perched on a steep hill overlooking Biltmore Village (South Asheville). The atmosphere of the building is clean and casual. The apartments are all unique, each being a slightly different size and shape. Apartments range from studio to multiple bed/bath. Restored wood floors, granite countertops, modern quality appliances (dishwasher, fridge, washer-dryer, heat). Many of the ceilings are high (over 8 feet) and many apartments feature sloping ceilings and lofts. One apartment even has a greenhouse and one has a central open space through three floors! There is a relaxed sense of community - people smile and say hello coming to and fro, and in the evenings, people gather to socialize on the front porch. There is a wide diversity of residents - young and old of many different income brackets and many different cultures (though predominantly middle class white American). There are relatively few children present, though I should note that the apartments are located in a very good city charter public school district. The managers are always about the property, readily available, friendly and quick to help out. Parking is convenient and plentiful. All areas of the building are handicap accessable (except stair-only lofts in some apartments). The bathrooms have authentic tile floors and vitreous porcelain sinks and toilets. The grounds surrounding the building hae walkways and garden areas and the Kenilworth area is mostly steep winding residential streets with very little traffic. There is a health club, convenience store and fast food (Wendy's, Subway, Krystal) within an easy 1/3 mile walk. Biltmore Village (1/2 mile) offers several banks (WaMu, Bank of America) as well as tourist retail shops, beauty salons, a coffee shop and several quality restaurants (Mexican, Continental, American, etc) and some trash-fast-food (Hardees, McDonalds) and gas. Downtown Asheville is an easy 1 mile drive. I was in Kenilworth for less than a year (I moved after buying a condo) but if I didn't buy the condo, I would undoubtedly still be there. There are many private but open wi-fi (wireless internet) spots encompassing most of the building. All electric and plumbing are up-to-date. There is very little crime - nothing bad happened that I was aware of during my stay. Residents are coming and going at all times of day and night so there is never a feeling of the building being "deserted". I would describe the surrounding community of Kenilworth as "well-to-do". Pets are allowed (additional deposit required) and there are a large number of dog and cat owners in residence.

Sounds like Kenilworth Apts hired you as their PR person. Good thing you moved out when you did. This place has definitely gone "to the dogs" since you left. A slumlord and his henchman, the property manager, have allowed this beautiful "hotel" to go to ruin and tenants are leaving in droves. You do not want to even entertain the thought of moving into this building. It's disgusting and smelly and the property manager is a lunatic. STAY AWAY!!!!!!
