Very noisy apartment thanks the to resident muscician. A stereo player's heaven, a quiet person's nightmare! Sad but true post again. I'll bet they subtracted cost to "clean" your carpet after you left from your security deposit too, huh? They pull that one on everyone. By law they are supposed to clean any apartment before renting (health reasons), but I guess Asheville thinks it is too far from Raleigh to obey the tenant & landlord laws in NC... When we moved in, there was an oil stain on living room carpet from previous tenant we found, who liked to park his morotcycle inside in bad weather.. Because we came from out of state, they pulled the old "you don't have any local history here" so we had to give them 3 times the rent in cash besides the security deposit just to move in. I think it was like $2,700.00 then back in 1999. They know you are stuck and cannot do anything and need a roof over your head, so you are forced to just pay what they demand and hope Asheville pans out. We cleaned our apartment several times during our stay and still they took a cleaning charge out on us after we left. They even charged us for painting a wall they had to cut open (maintenance never patched it properly) a couple years earlier because during construction, someone drove a screw through the sewer line from upstairs (covered it with drywall mud) and it started to leak behind the wall for months before the damage came through the front.. The they had to cut wall open behind sink because a 90degree elbow on water line cracked and was leaking and running all under our rugs for months before we started to notice bugs, mold, and compalined when a puddle actually formed so they could see were weren't making this up. UNREAL. A last note regarding all these developments, in NC for the most part, the construction codes are not as strict as most other regions of the country, especially with water piping. They utilize the heck out of cpvc plastic water piping instead of copper which would last worry free forever, and plastic can be very problematic and they only care about getting the place built, painted, slapped together fast, and rented for the money. Quality does not come into play wiht these multi-unit dwellings. One you are in they don't want to hear you have problems because of low class building products most of these developers were using the last 20 years in the region.. It costs too much to repair something correctly, when they should have done it right in the beginning and never had these problems..
