A REAL review from someone who has lived here long enough to make a truthful review

I am appalled that people are writing reviews here that have only lived here for a few months. That is not a long enough time frame to give potential renters a valid opinion. I am in the process of moving to Charlotte, NC now so I know how important these reviews are when deciding on an apartment so I am not going to mislead people.
Turtle Creek's apartments are nice despite what some people say. I will start with the good and then list the bad so you can make your own opinions.
The Good
--------
-The office staff are very nice and very helpful. You could not ask for a more pleasant group of people
-Pets..the community is pretty dog friendly, could be a little bit better like have a bigger fenced in area or more than one, but generally very good. They also have stands with poop pags everywhere for your use.
-Parking.. there seems to always be enough parking spots
-Outside lighting - the community is very well lit so that's a safety plus
-Safety... Very safe. 90% of the residents here are very friendly and won't hesitate to welcome you with open arms. Sure there may be riff raff here and there but you can't avoid them whether you live in Beverly Hills or the slum.
-Actual Apartment - pretty nice sized, decent looking apartments with big balconys. Dishwashers are always a plus feature to me in apartments and these come with one!
-Ammenities.. Great pool, great raquetball court, tennis courts, basketball courts and an ok volleyball court all make for great entertainment.
-GREAT location.. Turtle Creek is located in the nicest part of Asheville. No graffiti, no slums, all beautiful landscaping with great stores all around. Everything you could possibly need all minutes away, even walkable.
The Bad
---------
-Gym.. (good and bad) Turtle Creek offers residents free membership to a world class gym here. The only bad thing about this is it's about a 10 minute drive and I would prefer the gym in their clubhouse to be suffcient enough to use. The gym they have is pretty small so serious work out people have to drive to the big gym. It would be nice to go home and just be able to walk to the gym here.
-Ammenities.. The raquetball court and sauna is closed at 9pm. I think this is unneccesary as residents should have access to it 24/h a day since we have keys. There are no apartments around the clubhouse so there would be no noise.
-Pets.. We received notice about pets pooping in front of our building once. This is fine as its awful when people do not pick up their poop, but then a few days later the managers dog pooped and he did not pick it up! Also people bring their dogs to other people's buldings, let them poop there, and do not pick it up. I don't think the managment realizes or sees this.
Side note: people here have mentioned a lot of dogs run off leash here. That is NOT true. I have seen one dog that constantly does this, but all the millions of other dogs here are always on a leash so that is not a problem here. Generally people do pick up the poop too.
Noise- Get a townhouse because living in an apartment here can be very noisy. The walls are VERY thin. You can hear the people above you snoring at night, walking around, talking, flushing the toilet, etc. You get used to it though.
Maitenance - This is just what I have experienced so I don't know if they are generally bad or if I have had bad experiences. The day we moved in here our apartment was flooded. We called emergency maintenance as floods was on the emergency list. Well they didn't come until the next day which is not what the agreement said. If it's an emergency they should come right away. We literally had water up to our ankles in the living room. The important thing is they did come though and did a great job of fixing it. I think as long as it's not an emergency then the maintenance is pretty good. Though once we were locked out of our apartment after clubhouse hours so we called emergency maintenance to bring us a key. Forget it, 3 months later they have yet to even call us back, so if you get locked out of your apartment after hours, good luck to you!
Conclusion - Turtle Creek has good and bad aspects. All the important things in my opinion (safety, staff, ammenities) are all good though which is what matters. Every apartment complex will have complaints and not be perfect but this is just a fact of life. I would recommend Turtle Creek as a place to live, and almost every person who lives here is very happy with it.
