I have lived with three different management companies in Boone and none were half as bad as University Highlands. The apartments may seem nice on the outside but the only real good thing about Highlands is the friends you will make waiting in the cold all sharing the same hatred for Ron Branch and the other employees that he hires.

They tried to fine me three different times. Once when the lawn care "professionals" cut the grass and blew grass clippings onto my porch. Their mess became my bill. I was able to get out of this only after threating to take Ron Branch to court over this small $20 fine. Another time they tried to put me in Jail. It was a Thursday night and I came home from work. One of my friends was getting booted in the parking lot, which happens ALL THE TIME and is a huge hassle, I said hey to him and talked to him for a moment. Did not even say a word to the guy working for the boot company. A few moments later the security was knocking on my door. I was getting ready to go out and was slow to answer the door. They in turn decided to call the police. I found out that they were going to give me a ticket for "harassing management." The guy with the boot company said that I had been fighting with him all night and threatened his life. THESE ARE SERIOUS CLAIMS THEY WERE MAKING!!! The police came and were not much better, if you have had any run into with Boone PD you know what I am talking about. They only reason I got off was because my roommate who also worked with me heard what was going on and had our manager from work call and confirm that I had been at work that night. Since I was at work, I couldn't have been fighting with management. Ron Branch decided to call me that Monday morning at 6 am, I have never even signed up for an 8 am class and hate the mornings. He then decided that he was going to come into the apartments and lecture me on harassing his employees, even after the police determined that I had not been doing anything wrong.

The final time they tried to fine me was for allowing one of my friends to store some stuff in my apartment while I was no longer living at the apartment but still paying rent. Apparently their apartments are not storage units, I didn't know that you were not allowed to put things in the space that you were renting. I was so tired of fighting with them and 2 hours away that I just paid the $20 and never looked back. I HATED THAT PLACE BECAUSE OF MANAGEMENT. If you want to have drama in your life that is completely unnecessary then go to university highlands but I would rather live anywhere else other than this horrible place.

Sounds like this girl got in trouble (several times). I live at the Highlands now and love it. Mr. Branch and the office staff have been very helpful and the maintenance is great. My roommates and I have been together 3 years and this is the best place yet - to include the dorms...
