Abbey Court

 

I had three main problems with Abbey Court.
1.

SAFETY.

Not only was my car broken into, but someone pried open my flimsy mailbox door.

In addition, while I was in the shower, someone tried to break into the apartment.

Furthermore, I don't know how safe you would feel if you went to your car at 8PM and found 3 Mexican migrant workers sitting on the hood of your car, drunk, and smoking pot, but it didn't make me feel safe.

If you don't look trashy, then don't go to the busstop in front of the property.

You'll have to put up with harassment from the homeless and drunks.

The situation got so bad that the city of Carrboro passed an ordinance so that police could remove the vagrants from this specific busstop.

2.

AGE OF THE PROPERTY.

This property is OLD, and you can tell when you move in.

Half the time the windows wouldn't go up, and when they did they wouldn't stay up.

Also, in the winter it was drafty because the windowsill was cracked.

I alerted the management to this problem, and nothing happened.

Every time it rains, a new pot hole is born in the parking lot.

The soil under the pavement is eroding.

Some can be as deep as 2 feet and it's possible for you to break your leg if you're walking at night through the parking lot and don't see one.

3.

NOISE.

The people living in this little piece of Hades, are rude, trashy, noisy, and smelly.

The people who lived accross the breezeway from me would put trash in front of their door, and leave it for days.

My next door neighbor had parties til 5AM.

The walls are so thin that I could listen and understand their conversations while watching TV.

Also, the floor is so thin that I could understand what the people in the apartment under mine were talking about!

TAKE MY ADVICE: DON'T LIVE HERE! You will regret it.

The management doesn't care & the maintenance never comes.

I hated it so much that I moved out with 3 months to go on my lease.

I couldn't get out of it, so I willingly paid them the 3 months rent.

I would recommend that you move to south Durham.

The apartments are nicer and more reasonable than Chapel Hill/Carrboro.

You're not on a busline, but the drive to the park/ride lot is only 5 miles or so.
