Abbey Court is conveniently located for Carrboro amenities. Free public buses to town and the University of Chapel Hill Campus stop at the complex entrance. But you can easily walk to coffee shops, grocery store, Art Center, Weaver Market, etc. from Abbey Court. Between the bus service, bike lanes, and close proximity, it's easy to be car-less. Carrboro is part of the joint Chapel Hill/Carrboro school district. The school buses stop at the complex entrance. The new management has invested heavily in landscaping and has enforced strict controls on controlling access to the grounds (new fencing, vehicle stickers, night security, etc.). Several years ago the complex had a problem with noise but this is no longer a problem. The units are individually owned and rented by the management office. Maintainance depends somewhat on who owns your unit. One option is to buy and live in your own unit; they occasionally come up for sale. It's an older complex, built in the '70's, but the rent is low, in a community where housing costs have soared. My only complaint is that the pool is only open summer months, but the tennis courts are rarely used. In sum; Abbey Court is a no frills, convenient, reasonably priced place to live in my favorite NC community.

It may be convenient to walk to the ammenties in Carrboro and that works perfect for all the illegal aliens that live there and then cross the street to find work as day laborers. It is a scary place just to walk past. It is a drug den and well known to the police who have to visit often. The owners should be busted by the INS for all the illegal aliens that live there. The above review was obviously written by management. I wish they would tear Abbey Court down and improve the neighborhood.
