Carrboro's ghetto

Abbey Court is an adventure, to say the least.
Police sirens, car break-ins, you never know what will come next.
I learned some very valuable skills at Abbey Court-- how to avoid conversation with "the crazy guy" on the J bus and the CW bus, how to dodge pedestrians who wear black clothing at night and run out in front of you to cross to the gas station, and I also learned valuable lessons in economic and international development through my many international neighbors from below the border.
The all-day lineup of individuals drinking across the street has ended due to the city passing a law about loitering on that corner, but I've noticed driving by now that there is sometimes a lineup on the other side of the street now, too.
Waiting for the J bus, for a female, is an adventure in not making eye contact with any of the males staring at you.
Interestingly, Abbey Court has the best bus service of any Carrboro apartment complex: the J bus which comes every 20 minutes during the day and every hour at night.
That is pretty much the only positive.
