Definitely Cheap- But you'll pay in problems

I lived there for just over a year. The price was fantastic (watch out for heat&A/C prices though!). That was the major "pro." The management seemed friendly, but as soon as we had a problem, we were suddenly the enemy. I had previously lived in Highland Hills without any problems-would recommend & my roommate in Rock Creek-would also recommend. The problems we had were enough to make us want out.
Problems included bugs (cockroaches infiltrating the kitchen cabinets & drawers-yuck!): Orkin came out repeatedly, some change, but in the end the problem persisted. Mold around all of our windows, and on our sturdy front door (then on the coats we hung on the door): management treated with bleach and did not ventilate or investigate problem, we were suffocating in toxins after work & when the mold persisted, we were told we could treat it ourselves (it's an allergen, so that makes it difficult)! Really noisy neighbors: management was unresponsive to numerous complaints, neighbors clearly were unresponsive too. Finally downstairs dryers vent through upstairs in these buildings. In our place, the hot moist air from our downstairs neighbor's dryer without fail came into our apartment, making it smelly and making our dryer dripping wet inside (and creating a horrific noise at night when they dried clothes). So, don't leave clothes in the drier-they end up wet again-as does the air (and it's not always nice laundry smell once it's travelled through those pipes!): management attempted to fix, couldn't, and said there's nothing more they could do. A/C & Heat-REALLY expensive if you want to keep it a reasonable temp 77 summer/68 winter (and hard to keep warm at all in winter with flimsy single-pane windows)...I emphasize this. This place is on the Piedmont Energy side, not Duke Power, so it runs much higher in price that way and ours had a fairly ineffective (and very loud) system.
Other cons/heads up: "newly renovated" I would use loosely, peek in the cabinets and you'll find particle board painted over and warped (our belongings fell down due to the uneven surface in cupboards); scraps from renovation were left in our cabinets. Terrible maintenance- almost all jobs were only partially completed. Living facing the highway- you CAN hear it from inside, so don't even think of opening those windows in spring/fall if you want to hear TV or your roommate. Windows are shockingly flimsy-you can feel outside air coming in and can see gaps (looks like they glued them together themselves).
All to say, no good!

This is the most accurate review I've read on here. I lived in BMW for 3 years and had all the problems listed here (MAJOR bug issues!) and then some, including a leaky HVAC system that made my carpet wet, mushy, and moldy at least 4 times while I lived here. Also, my rent skyrocketed over the time I was here.. I moved in at $599 and exited at $869.
