Not worth the money....

At first glance, Chambers Ridge looked okay. We had new carpet in our unit and the walls were freshly painted. But after a while, several things about the place started to get on our nerves.
First of all, the floorplan includes a lot of angled walls. While these were cute at first, they presented a real problem when trying to arrange the furniture. The cabinets were REALLY old and banged up. In fact, they had labels instructing the owner to use paste wax to polish them. There was a serious mildew problem in the master bathroom, which involved mildew underneath the wallpaper. Speaking of the wallpaper, before we moved in, we told the management that we preferred a unit without wallpaper. Their solution to this was to cover the current wallpaper with texture and paint! (Yes, the mildew was lurking underneath all that!) The laundry area was in the kitchen and was covered by louvred doors that would never stay shut. The air conditioning ducts were apparently connected between apartments, as we could often smell cigarrette smoke in the master bathroom when our next door neighbor lit up.
The deck was nice and big, but was constructed of individual boards. So we got trash from our upstairs neighbors on our patio, and any trash we swept up inevitably slipped between the boards onto our downstairs neighbor's patio.
The whole unit was dark and depressing. We had a nice view of the trees, but they blocked out most of the natural sunlight. Also, the two-bedroom units are serviced by Piedmont Electric, and our energy bill was typically between $115 and $130 per month. Duke Energy is much cheaper.
For the same price, you can get a super nice place near Southpoint in Durham. For a little more, you can get a much newer, fresher unit in Chapel Hill/Carrboro.
